"Erik James the Ramblin Cowboy Singer"

"Erik James brings an astonishing stage presence to his work that grips the audience by the back of the neck and shakes the whole room. His homage to the music of Woody Guthrie gives rise to visions of the Dust Bowl, desperate men riding trains over the horizon, and refugees from the Great Depression fleeing West in search of jobs and hope. Add to that his send-up of old-time whiskey tunes and you've got shot glass of 100-proof entertainment." Born in Saginaw Michigan and raised throughout the midwest, Erik James was influenced early in life by folk music. The sounds of Woody Guthrie, Pete seeger, and Ramblin' Jack Elliott inspired him to travel and play music . Erik left home at a young age to ramble around the United States, he hitch-hiked coast to coast with his guitar slung across his back, absorbing the sights and sounds of America and the stories of the people he met along the way. A wide range of music and culture influences Erik, drawing musically from Folk, Americana, Rock, Reggae, Blues, Motown, and Old Cowboy Songs, His music is rooted in the tradition of the traveling balladeer. Like the bards of old, Erik is bound for glory, traveling the land, sharing his stories, picking his guitar.
