Blending a diverse mixture of styles into his own brand of Folk/Pop, Erik Janson and his band mate Craig Ferguson are currently working long days and nights in the studio recording new material that will be featured on Erik's debut release, due out in the winter of 2006.
Erik and his band have maintained a monthly show every last Saturday at Room 5 Lounge in Hollywood, CA. In addition to their monthly resident gig in LA, Erik and the band regularly perform throughout California. This has included repeat college, club, and cafe performances in San Diego, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Fresno, and San Francisco.
A guitarist as well as a singer/songwriter, Erik has spent the spring of 2006 studying the music of Mississippi John Hurt, Gary Davis, Jerry Reed, Merle Travis, Lightnin' Hopkins, and other important figures of American music. Erik has always been greatly interested in the the evolution of modern music and reflects that "listening to early blues and folk artists has inspired me to grow as a player, singer, and writer."
Prior to moving back to Los Angeles, Erik lived in San Francisco and performed at venues like The Red Devil Lounge, The Hotel Utah, The Tongue and Groove, and The Make-Out Room.
