"CMW 2004 (Revival)"

Being an electronic music showcase, Erik Simins’ R&B performance could have been the black sheep, but it worked!.... Erik took the stage along with four back-up dancers dressed in coordinating urban gear, opening the act with an original single called “The Way I See It”. Exhibiting a comfortable and confident stage presence, the crowd quickly gathered up to the stage to participate. Overall, Erik Simins offered an eye-catching, tight, and polished performance — the obvious result of hard work. Impressive! - Nocturnal Magazine

Bio

Erik Simins

Writing and singing since he was 10 years old, Erik’s early musical influences span funk, soul and pop genres including artists such as Earth Wind and Fire, James Ingram, Hall & Oates and Prince. As Erik's passion for music grew, he broadened his understanding of folk, rock and jazz and moved from away from his formal training in piano to study guitar. With the ability to write and perform Adult Contemporary, Rock, Pop and R&B ballads, he has differentiated himself from the majority of other indie artists having a catalogue of over 50 original songs.

Collaborating with Juno Award nominee and producer Adam Messinger, Erik wrote and released his first single, ‘Parent’s House’ in July 2004. With the music video playing simultaneously on MuchMusic, MuchVibe and MTV Canada, the track has recently topped 1,000 spins on commercial and independent radio and has created considerable interest and opportunity in both Canada and the U.S.

Beating out a pool of successful songwriters, Erik’s debut single was selected for the soundtrack of “Making It Big”, a television show that will air this spring to over 40 million house holds across North America. With a number of cameo appearances on the show, Erik will be gaining tremendous exposure that will assist in the release and promotion of his next single. His single has also been picked up on two compilation disks distributed throughout Canada and after being rated the number one R&B/Soul artist on www.myglobalsound.com, Erik was added to MGS’s compilation disk distributed throughout Miami, Florida. He currently in the studio working with renowned producer K-Cut and New York’s own HighTower who has remixed for J-Lo, Beyonce Knowles, LL-Cool J and Jay-Z.

On a national scale, Erik recently completed his Canadian tour with Ivana Santilli. Previous and upcoming concert dates and times can be viewed on his EPK at www.sonicbids.com/eriksimins or on his website at www.eriksimins.com. On an international level, Erik was asked to perform live on the legendary Carnaby St. and was interviewed on air by South London’s 101.4 Bounce FM. With his touted performance and commercial radio success, Erik remains humble and generous performing for charitable organizations such as the Breast Cancer Society, donating 50% of his EP sales at a number of his shows during Canadian Breast Cancer month.

All in all, Erik’s music is an honest portrayal of the love and pain he has experienced throughout his young life, reflecting collective influences of almost every musical genre. With his debut album ready to fly in 2005, and a strong fan base backing his material and live shows, Erik Simins is and will continue to be one of Canada’s fastest rising stars.
