Bio

Jim Steiner (electric bass) joined Erik Smith in the spring of 2005. With a degree in History, he has perfected the art of “less is more” in his style. Don’t let that fool you. He can still lay down some funky licks that have become crucial to the sound of the band. He is a student at the University of Idaho and hails from Sandpoint, ID where he grew up with music. His father, a local music shop owner, had Jimmy listening and playing the classics when he was just a little boy. Now, he plays music all over the place! Whether it’s laying back for a nice ballad or rocking out to a faster groove, Jimmy gives it all he’s got, even if he plays bare footed!

Todd Rubie (drums) is a percussion major at Washington State University where his work ethic has put him at the top of his studio. Coming from Bothell, WA, he is a great addition to the band. Todd has played in a variety of bands before joining Erik Smith. With all the different styles to play from bossa nova, to rock and swing, this new switch has provided a large outlet for his sound. Todd gives the band that extra drive that makes audiences keep asking for more! And, although he plays with outward emotion, he’s got a heart like a teddy bear! He works hard for the music, and you can hear it!

Owen Peth (keyboards) is a graduate of Agriculture from Washington State University. Among his musical talents, he performs Trombone in Jazz II, Trumpet for the Cougar Marching Band, and Keyboards for WSU’s high energy Crimson Revue show choir. Owen is a song writer with an incredible voice that has been a huge addition to the ESYM sound. He’s the kind of musician that everyone wants in a band. He is completely versatile while being able to blend with his musical surroundings. You will love his stuff!

Erik Smith (vocals) Born of parents with masters degrees in music, he is self taught on guitar and has training in both vocal and percussion music. The band’s newest album features a great variety of sounds and talents! Erik Smith and the Yes Men are becoming the most sought out group in their area, and it’s not hard to see why! They look forward to giving you the most incredible show you’ve seen in a long time, guaranteed!
