"Q&A with Erik Vice"

Link - http://www.signonsandiego.com/uniontrib/20070111/images/center.pdf

Q: Why do you play music?
A: Well, I've always played music. I first started at 4 years old with both guitar and piano, and I haven't really stopped since. Most people see me as a quiet person, so I guess playing music has always been my outlet for expression.

Q: What is your favorite album of all time? And would we be able to tell by listening to your music?
A: That's tough to answer: One of my favorite albums while growing up was "The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan" by Bob Dylan. But more recently, "Either/Or" by Elliott Smith has been the most influential album for me. His music and songwriting have had such a heavy influence on my music. I think for anyone who is familiar with Elliott Smith, it would be almost impossible not to hear his influence in my music.

Q: Who would you have direct your music video?
A: A music video isn't something I've given much thought on, but probably my good friend Sean Mancillas. he's a killer bassist and an awesome photographer and an extremely creative individual. I'd love to give him a video camera and see what he would come up with.

Q: If you weren't a musician, you would be...
A: I guess a music teacher. Music has always been a huge part of my life. Even if I weren't an active musician, I would be involved with music one way or another.

Bio

Erik Vice, 23, is an emerging original songwriter from San Diego, CA. His music has been described as poignant, crazy, emotive, cheerful, melodic, and at times depressing . Erik plays an indie folk-rock style with your standard six string. The songs off his debut LP "Echo Park" are a mixture of acoustic, electric guitars with harmonica and piano/keyboards. This album leaves you with the tastes of Bob Dylan, Elliott Smith and Bright Eyes.

Erik's first release, the generous 7-track EP "Jump", was released in December of 2005. These songs were recorded at Erik's home studio on a 4-track cassette recorder.

Erik's most recent release in was February 3rd, 2007, "Clouds & Sounds" 5 track EP. "Go ahead buy a copy, I made them myself!"
