"Raising A Voice"

8/20/05

"Behind many successful musicians, there's often supportive parents. Jessica Simpson's father Joe quit his youth ministry to manage both daughters."

"...Katy resident Joy Guercio said she wouldn't mind doing the same for her own daughter, Erin Eder..."

"And like Joe Simpson, Guercio turned to the church to jump-start her daughter's musical career..."

"The Eder-Mace Band"

Entertainment/Live Music
The Eder-Mace Band

Erin Eder is determined to prove that a big star doesn't have to come from a big glamorous, or faraway place. Along with her fellow band mates in the Eder-Mace Band, she plans to follow in the footsteps of other local celebrities like Renee Zellwegger, Clint Black, and Frank Bielec and become the next big thing to come out of little Katy, Texas.

READY TO ROCK AND ROLL
From weddings to birthday parties, banquets to anniversaries, church services to community events, she has been performing in public for about six years. Her first big performance was about one year ago, when she played at the Houston Hot Sauce Festival. Then, her band was known as the Eder-Matthews band and consisted of Erin, Chris and Ben Matthews.

Since then, Eder's mother and booking manager, Joy Guercio, says Chris and Ben became too busy with school activities to continue playing gigs and had to leave the band. However, Eder started receiving many offers to play different gigs and wanted to continue performing. She turned to a group of seasoned adult musicians who normally play with their own bands for help. and from there the Eder-Mace Band was formed.

"The Cherokee Country Band and the Mason Granade Band offered their services to help Erin fill her many gigs since last March," said Guercio. The name Eder-Mace comes from combining Erin's last name with the last name of her favorite voice coach, Elizabeth Mace.

ENTERTAINING THE CROWD
Recently, she performed at the Texas Opry Jamboree and rocked the house with Johnny B. Goode. She also performed at the Rice Harvest Festival treating the crowd to a lot of old rock 'n roll and some current pop music. With a soul sultry voice that works well with R & B, she is an entertainer that can keep an event fun-feeling and alive. "I feel like I bring a lot of excitement," Eder says. "I know how to entertain a crowd and consider myself very social and energetic."

Kayce Hayes booked the band for a wedding and was impressed with the band's talent and energy. With multiple singers, she says the band was extremely diverse so they were able to accommodate several requests. "They were wonderful," Hayes says. "There were many compliments on the band. Everyone in the band was musically talented."

MUSICAL INFLUENCES
Eder's musical influences range everywhere from Led Zeppelin to Keith Urban and Steely dan. Some of her favorite performers include Christina Augilera and Kelly Clarkson. In Addition to the Eder-Mace Band, she is also active with her church band at Crosspoint Community Church.

Currently, she attends Calvin Nelms High School Northwest in Hempstead. She also takes courses at Blinn College for voice and musical theater. At 16, she will graduate in May and plans to attend Texas State University and major inmusical theater. "I love anything to do with theater," she says.

For now, the Eder-Mace Band is looking toward to performing at a Mardi Gras gig in February in Galveston where she will perform with Mason Granade.

Bio

Erin Eder was introduced to music at an early age singing along with oldies on her mother’s car radio. By the age of ten, she graduated to musicals and began singing at local festivals and talent shows. At the ripe old age of fourteen, Erin eventually found herself on the main stage at the Katy Rice Harvest Festival, performing her first recorded singles, “Crazy for You” and “Drifter” written by William Matthews and Mason Granade.

While performing professionally in local clubs and private parties, Erin was introduced to country music by Houston entertainer and songwriter Randy Meadows. With his talent and expertise, Erin began entertaining crowds with her upbeat renditions of “Mustang Sally” and “Johnny B. Goode”. It did not take long for Randy’s respect for Willie Nelson and his music to rub off on Erin. Suddenly, Erin began performing a different kind of “Crazy”. Erin’s interpretation of “Since You’ve Been Gone” written by Randy Meadows is a perfect example of how country music has enriched her level of vocal performance. Erin Eder’s rich vocals have been compared to Leanne Rimes and legendary Patsy Cline.

Erin Eder’s strong, sultry voice breaks through to compliment her upbeat country music with a lot of soul. She is determined to prove that a big star doesn’t have to come from big glamorous, far away places, and plans to follow the footsteps of other local celebrities like Clint Black and Renee Zellweger and become the next big thing to come out of little Katy, Texas!
