"She's a shameless self-promoter and proud of it!"

Wouldn't it be great if everyone could make a living doing something they absolutely love? According to Erin Jennifer Simms, everyone should follow their dreams. The budding rock singer just recorded her first CD and is preparing to put on a show at Petit Campus Monday. "I can't believe I'm getting paid to do this," she beamed. "It's too fun."

Her age: "It's the most ridiculous thing to keep track of."

Nickname: "Shmer."

Occupation: "I'm a rock singer. I've been doing it for two years professionally. I know it sounds like an outrageous claim, but my sound is comparable to U2. I do these kind of power ballads with really personal lyrics."

Being a singer is: "Amazing. Every time I finish a show, I can't believe that I'm getting paid to do it."

Recently acquired taste: "Shameless self-promotion. I'm doing this showcase on Aug. 6 at Petit Campus and I'm trying to get the word out. I've been telling everyone I meet to come and check me out. I have no shame, really."

Her screen saver: "My sister Adrianne's artwork."

Favourite website: "www.my

space.com/erinjennifersimms. That's that shameless self-promotion I was talking about."

She can't live without : "My iPod. I've got 10,000 songs on it." At midnight she's often: "On stage at some bar in the city, like Jello Bar or Bourbon Street West."

Biggest weakness: "Cheese and guilt trips."

What makes her upset: "Liars. I hate when people tell ridiculous, pointless, obvious lies to my face."

Ideal home: "A tour bus anywhere in the world."

Signature quote: "Ben l."

Greatest fear: "Having someone find out what my greatest fear is."

A sentence she'd like to hear someone say to her: " 'You inspired me to follow my dreams.' I think most people don't do it, but it's possible. I'm living proof. So get out there and do what you

really want to do."

Her second-choice profession: "Professional tennis player. And I'd be married to Roger Federer."

What makes her happy: "A glass of wine, watching concerts in the sun, my family, coffee and speeding without getting caught."

Last book she read: Lullabies for Little Criminals, by Heather O'Neill.

Last time she pulled an all-nighter: "When I was writing the lyrics for Stone on the Shore. Actually, it was more like 10 all-nighters in a row."

How she makes her parents proud: "Following my dreams. My mom was a singer in her day, too, but she had kids instead of pursuing her singing career. I know she gets a kick out of seeing me succeed in the field."

People have told her she looks like: "Mariah Carey, Hilary Duff and Bon Jovi's sister."

She spends too much money on: "Jeans, rent and electronics."

What's on her coffee table: "A John Lennon picture book, an IKEA dish with stones in it, guitar picks and a picture of me with my best friends at a baby shower."

Living person she most admires: "My father. He wrote the book on being cool."

The last scary thing she did was: "Flying to Kuujuuak on a cargo plane for a gig."

Her 10-year plan: "To tour the world, have a baby and be in love with someone who loves me."

"Erin Jennifer Simms"

Erin Jennifer Simms latest album, “Army in My Head is an attestation to the rising talent and evolution of Erin herself. This Montreal native, formerly known as Canteen, opened for Air Supply, Alanah Myles, Sass Jordan and headlined for the Molson Indy on Crescent street – what’s more Montreal than that?!

Paying her dues touring Ontario and participating in Canadian Music Week, Erin is not to be missed as she plays a home show on August 6th @ Petit Campus.

This 7-song album has tracings of girl next door, meeting up with the party rocker chick. Some edge mixed with some softer ballads, personal and sexy vocals. Anyone can respond to Erin’s lyrics while she doesn’t play up any usual pop/rock motifs. It’s Chantal Kreviazuk, Sara McLaughlin, and Gwen Stefani melted into one soulful singer!
