"Erin Miley - The Ardent Sessions EP - Album Review"

Erin Miley’s powerful, almost inspiring voice warbles into low comfort just as it reaches points of high tension. The Baton Rouge artist is like a soulful Norah Jones type with only a perfect amount of eerie folk guitar creeping in and out of the background to accompany her. There’s an odd sense of despair in the tone of several tracks, like the second one “Good Mistake,” yet it always seems to be just on the verge of immense hope. All seven tracks on The Ardent Sessions EP have the capability of resulting in a mesmerized stare. They can make you forget what you’re doing and get lost within the song, especially if that’s what you’re looking for. - Stereo Gumbo

Haunting voice echoing against spectral acoustic exoskeleton guitar.
She should make a CD that sounds just like this so I can sing it's
praises. - Alex V. Cook, 225 Magazine

Bio

Erin Miley's haunting vocals, unique guitar playing and unconventional songwriting will capture you in a ghostly trance, whether a willing a participant or cynic to the craft. Her live performances hush rowdy crowds, and even quiet the clanking of glasses and coughs in still moments that leave an impression on anyone in ears reach. Her traditionally acoustic approach to music has created the groundwork for intricate and beautiful electric adaptations and a new sound rich with harmonies and instrumental layers. The music has become a community with a revolving, evolving cast of characters playing their roles with violin, cello, upright bass, organ and various forms of found-percussion and drums. This is the voice of an angel with bad news, and a story to tell.

Erin Miley's first release, "The Ardent Sessions EP," in November 2009, opened many new opportunities for the previously unknown songstress such as a 16-date tour with Memphis artists Star and Micey, and a steady influx of regional booking inquiries. Erin has played over 40 shows in support of the EP, with larger and more enthusiastic crowds each time, locally and regionally.
