Erique Christina

Biography

Straight out of Duval County, Jacksonville Florida, Erique Christina, whose given name is Erika Terry, was born into a family of both musicians and singers.  She discovered at a very early age she too had an instrument she could share – it was bold, strong and beautiful – it was her voice.

From the womb, Erique heard and enjoyed country music, as her mother worked as a Receptionist at WQIK- Jacksonville's Hitkicker, a country music radio station.  As a baby, she crawled around the piano and Hammond organ, as her father - a self-taught musician, tickled the ivories for hours.  

By the age of 3, Erique was singing skillfully alongside her Dad as he played and prepared for rehearsals.  Erique's parents served as ministers of music, so she gained exposure in her local church choir as she learned how different voices and music worked together, how to harmonize and blend her voice with others. To this day, she still has a healthy appreciation for Gospel music.

In high school she sang with 4 groups, Chamber, Consort and Concert choirs and also performed with the “Ritz Voices” a city wide show chorus in Jacksonville, Florida, under the direction of Ms. Debra McDuffie (Vocal Coach/Producer for Luther Vandross, Janet and Michael Jackson s and former music director at the Apollo Theater). 

Erique grew up listening to amazing artists like Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye and Tina Turner among others like DeAngelo, Usher and Missy Elliot.  She has been compared to Chaka Khan, among other greats, for her big and robust voice.

Erique later attended Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida, where she obtained a degree in Recording Arts/Sound Engineering and sang with the University of Central Florida's gospel choir.  She is a producer, songwriter, vocalist and overall entertainer.  Born an old soul, when you see Erique perform, you will feel that you know her and have met her before as she has a kindred spirit.  You will feel her soul and her warmth through her authentic stage presence and emotion.  Her voice is like a cool breeze, familiar yet mysterious. 

Inspired to move to Atlanta, Georgia to continue her musical journey, Erique regularly performed at Apache' Cafe, Cafe 290 and Club 291.  Since moving to Las Vegas, she’s been a regular at Saddle ‘N Spurs, The Tavern, The Artisan and Bootleggers Italian Grill.

Erique is a "no non-sense" artist who is known for her energetic style...both eclectic and eccentric all at once.  Erique's stage presence is energetic and free spirited, definitely a sight to behold.

She has worked with rapper David Banner of Nappy Roots, Beau Barrington, former lead singer of The Temptations, Bobby Miller, and Michael Jackson Celebrity Impersonator.

When she’s not on stage singing, you can find her on a different stage, acting   As a Specialty and Background Actress, you may have seen Erique in a number of television shows and films, including Necessary Roughness, Vampire Diaries, The Originals, Flight, as a reporter, with Denzel Washington, Don Cheadle and Parental Guidance with Bette Midler and Billy Crystal.  Erique has been in various Tyler Perry Productions including, The Haves and the Have Nots and If Loving You is Wrong.

When off the stage and off the set, Erique enjoys great comedy, dancing, cooking, eating Italian food and chasing behind the family dog, Braxton.

Erique is focused and looks forward to a rewarding future in the entertainment industry as a world renowned performer.
