"Erison"

For a band comprised of 18- and 19-year-olds, Erison has certainly set some lofty goals, such as creating “quality and influential music” and “taking the public by storm,” according to its MySpace page. When exactly did teenagers stop starting bands to meet (and hook up with) hot girls? In any case, Erison’s definitely poised to meet those goals — its music does that melodic-screamo-pop-punk thing that kids these days seem to like, and the quality of the band’s recordings — even the rough previews of its upcoming album — are impressively professional. Harrisburg, Pa.’s, Farewell Flight open, along with local rock acts The Safe and Sound and The Acoustic Super Biskits. T. Baker

"Erison"

Local five-piece melodic pop-punkers Erison debut their new EP, Lines Unspoken, tonight at New Brookland. The youngsters certainly know what they’re doing in the studio: The recordings are slick and as professional as Jean Reno. (You know, from the movie The Professional.) Not to mention the fact that the songs rock, including some blistering fretwork and cranked vocals. Oh, and the album cover is just lovely. Also playing are a reunited Distress Case, as well as Farewell Flight and Hey Apollo. T. Baker
New Brookland Tavern: 7 p.m., $5 ($8 under 21); 791-4413, newbrooklandtavern.com. - Free Times

Bio

Erison is an alternative/progressive/experimental rock band from South Carolina. The band formed in early 2007 with members Cory Curtis(guitar), Ian Barker(guitar), and Daniel Maddox(drums). Still being in high school, the 3 found it hard to find serious, quality musicians. Later that year Micah Rowell(bass) and Andrew Wackerhaegan(vocals) was added to the group to complete the Erison line up. They went into the studio for the first time in March of 2007, and released their first two songs "Out of Mind", and "As We Breathe We Hope". By the end of the summer the band had been writing new material constantly and released their 3rd track "Odyssey". By the end of the summer Cory(guitar) and Daniel(drums) were removed from the line up on account of personal issues. The remaining 3 members(micah, andrew, and ian) had no intention of ending their musical dream there. Shortly after the ordeal Brandon Trantham(drums) and Rob Royson(guitar) were added to the group, completing the final and current Erison line up.

Soon after working a few months with eachother, they had all new material and went into the studio with producer Drew Leclair to record their 2008 EP "Lines Unspoken". The track list included two of the earlier songs "As We Breathe We Hope", and "Odyssey" along with 4 new tracks. The EP was released in May of 2008 and the response was bigger than they expected. Labels started to show interest in the group offered them a chance to take their music to a whole other level. The erison guys, having just come out of high school, were still very young and had educated themselves on the tough music buisness. Signing with amature labels would sell the group and their hardwork short. The group had the support of their friends, family and the their fans and the Erison guys had no intent of letting them down. Their motivation is to keep producing quality and influential music to anyone that will listen.
