Lyrics

A Father's Wish

Written By: Ernie Martinez and Anne Byrne

Chorus
To my daughters dear to me
A father’s wish for you
Keep your dreams alive and near
To your own heart oh please stay true

Boys are knocking at our door
Love’s a mystery you’ll explore
Hang on to the girl in you
To your own heart oh please stay true

Love will come and love will go
Take a chance, but take it slow
Have fun what ere’ you do
To your own heart oh please stay true

Chorus
To my daughters dear to me
A father’s wish for you
Keep your dreams alive and near
To your own heart oh please stay true

Oh my darling baby girls
Your mean more than this whole world
Find a love that’s good for you
To your own heart oh please stay true

Love is precious, love is grand
But don’t be scared to take your stand
The road of life will guide you through
To your own heart oh please stay true

Chorus
To my daughters dear to me
A father’s wish for you
Keep your dreams alive and near
To your own heart oh please stay true

Where I Make My Home

Written By: Ernie Martinez and Anne Byrne

The mountains stretch out west, as far as you can see
This place is home to my family and me
To the east lie the great vast rolling plains
But here is where my heart still remains
Near these foothills, where I make my home
Near these foothills, where I make my home

My folks they grow old and start to age
And as the years go by, I see them turn the page
And I’m trying to live up to the way that I was raised
My eyes and my heart look west to gaze
On these foothills, where I make my home
On these foothills, where I make my home

Chorus
My parents and my children and me in between
The mountains and the plains, so rocky and so green
The landscape will always change, with our lives to keep
Connecting all the roots as they grow deep
Near these foothills, where I make my home
Near these foothills, where I make my home

My little girls grow taller every day
And as the years go by, I see them make their way
Growing up cared for and caring in return
If ever far away their hearts will yearn
For these foothills, where I make my home
For these foothills, where I make my home

Chorus
My parents and my children and me in between
The mountains and the plains, so rocky and so green
The landscape will always change, with our lives to keep
Connecting all the roots as they grow deep
Near these foothills, where I make my home
Near these foothills, where I make my home
Near the mountains, where I make my home
