Local hip-hop artist’s new release appeals to audiences everywhere
GASTONIA, N.C. – It’s not often that a new hip-hop artist enters the scene with the skills to back up the attitude. But once in a while, the planets align and a star is born. Enter new TMG artist, Suave (pronounced Swa-vay). Haling from the Charlotte metro, Suave is releasing his new album, “Do a Little Dance,” nationwide this week.
Produced by Tate Music Group, “Do A Little Dance” includes 11 original songs and is currently available nationwide at the iTunes Store, CDBaby.com, or directly from TateMusicGroup.com.
The album is what Suave calls “a reformation of thought.” Though his tracks sound like Ne-Yo or 2pac and could compete with any contemporary hip-hop artist, Suave’s lyrics are what set him apart. The goal is to promote the power of rhythm, the celebration of dance, and the beauty of life, instead of sex, violence, and discrimination. Songs like “Keep the Love Strong” are about how love should look in a couple’s life. “A Mother's Tears” is dedicated to mothers who have lost a child in a tragedy of violence. “Yes we can” was inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King and Barak Obama. The gospel track “How you want it,” depicts how Christians can “keep it real.” Suave is reaching young people in his audiences with a hip-hop groove and gospel lyrics. “My whole concept with this CD is to be different,” he says. “I wanted to present a new scene to the music industry.”
