Shawn Beast, born Demetrius Lashawn Burke in Columbus, Ohio in 1979, grew up on the eastside of Columbus, Ohio before moving to Pickerington, Ohio where he went on to graduate from high school. After two years at ITT Technical College he decided to place all of his efforts in his music. Since then he has performed at multiple clubs and talent shows around Ohio. He is an unsigned artist that recently moved to Tampa, Florida to attend the International Academy of Design and Technology. He now resides in southern California to be better positioned for music. He collaborated with his little brother (Dion Burke) in producing songs and recording on their computer. Playing with the cards that they were dealt, they have managed to create songs that brings an intensity of spirit and the positive but real side of street life to listeners. 'Heartfelt Rhymes With Meaning' He is taking hip-hop back to it’s essence, where it had a bigger meaning than money, drugs and women. His lyrics give a pithy description of the less talked about side of street life. He can take listeners to the club or into the life of pedaling drugs because it's reality; He has been there. Instead of pointing out the fortunes gained from pedaling drugs, His lyrics point out the negatives.
