Bio

Because an audience’s idea of what is impactful art is determined by the forms to which they have been exposed, the goal is to create work that acknowledges these differences and shows everyone everything, anyway.  It is the artist’s aim to work against societal perceptions of “other-ed” bodies and to influence viewers to consider their cultural presumption.  By employing both fine art methods of performance and sound, and musical performance, Eshovo is able to widely deliver his message despite the social stratification of audiences.

Amplifying the echoes of A Tribe Called Quest, both literally and figuratively, ESHOVO’s music focuses on sharing his perspectives and emotional responses much like the musicians that made him fall in love with hip hop in 1996. As a student at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, living and making music in 2016, ESHOVO has combined methods of sound, performance, and visual art practices in his approach to making music.

ESHOVO crafts his compositions with reckless abandon and an unhealthy obsession to detail that can only be described as “enthrallingly earnest,” much like his performances, which only end when his shirt is drenched in his sweat and his breathing can no longer support his voice’s projection. His stance is “you only stop when you literally have nothing left worth giving.” Using audio effect pedals and midi controllers, he enters every performance obedient to this understanding yet the result is never the same twice.

In 2015, ESHOVO was featured on The Fader (http://www.thefader.com/2015/11/20/prinze-georges-eshovo-speed-demon) as he joined friends and longtime collaborators Prinze George for a "track about the dangers of the fast life."

Also in 2015, ESHOVO released #000000. An album inspired by navigating the varying perceptions of BLACK in America. It is available on iTunes, Spotify and Tidal.
