Bio

Fans and critics alike agree that Espy’s sound is unique. With a voice as versatile as it is beautiful he can, by turns, seduce you or have you bouncing to the beat of the music.

Shaun Jones decided at the age of 6 that music was his life. Brought up singing in church he hadn’t considered performing other types of music. But, at the age of 13, a friend convinced Shaun to sing an R&B song and from that day there was no turning back. Thus, Espy was born. Forming the group Mackanage with a fellow performer, Espy began as Espionage. Mackanage gained popularity locally, with the group performing at venues and gatherings until the two decided to part ways musically. Espy has since continued to develop his unique style and stage presence.
Music is more than catchy rhythms and lyrics to me; it is emotion in its purest form. Whatever I need to say, to express, everything combines to create the man onstage.
-Espy
Espy’s love for music is apparent. Onstage he has no equal in the amount of energy that flows from him. Espy is at once charismatic, soulful and playful. As a performer he is multi-faceted; dynamic and powerful, capable of communicating deep emotion in equal measure with lighthearted lyrics that will make you smile and keep you on your feet throughout the entire performance. Off stage he is just as engaging. With a quick smile that belies his serious nature Espy speaks passionately about his chosen craft in all aspects, from writing to production, his knowledge and affinity for music shines.
From 2006 to 2008 Espy worked with Dejavu in Oklahoma City where he opened for a number of well-known performers including Tyrese, Jim Jones, Playaz Circle, Jibbs, Shawty Lo, Gucci Mane, and Juelz Santana. Since parting ways with Dejavu in 2008 Espy has performed at various shows & venues throughout Oklahoma and North Carolina as well as with the Hot Import Nights (HIN) car show across the nation. Since moving from Oklahoma City to Charlotte, North Carolina Espy continues his recording and song writing, recently submitting a song to Keri Hilson. He also continues working on his debut album entitled “It’s Time”.
Espy is an up and coming musical phenomenon, definitely an artist to watch. It has been a long time in coming but like all things in life, good things come to those who wait. And after all…It’s Time.
