New York bred artist Essence begin pursuing a music career in 2010 after being motivated by family and friends. Essence gained notoriety after appearing on 1017 Brick Squad (Gucci Mane) rapper “Frenchie” Concrete Jungle 2 mixtape (2011). In 2014 Essence released “South Side Anthem” to streaming platform Soundcloud with true-to-concept visuals to Youtube as her first single. The hardcore track was an ode to South Jamaica Queens where Essence was born and raised, which was well received and garnered her acknowledgement as a skilled lyricist. In 2016 Essence released “Shook Ones Challenge” a freestyle over the classic “Shook ones part 2” by Mobb Deep to Soundcloud alongside a music video, which caught the attention of Havoc from Mobb Deep. Essence has been featured in several freestyle cyphers including "Beyond The Booth" live freestyle sessions as the first female Emcee to appear on the series hosted by Brickhouse Studios with DJ Flipside (2019) and KSharktv's All female cypher hosted by DTF Radio (2019). Essence  has been featured on several tours throughout the years, building her fan base and visibility. She has also appeared on several mixtape & playlist collaborations since 2011 helping to achieve local, national and global success. Working behind the scenes as a ghost writer and executive producer, she continues to release music and visuals. Essence’s debut project has been highly anticipated and is currently in production with Executive production from Pudgee Tha Phat Bastard and Frank “Nitty” Pimentel formerly of the “TrackMasters”.
