"At first listen, the artist Essential I catches your ear and sounds like a modern Jamaican/American Dancehall DJ, but after a few listens it is clear that this artist can rap, MC and sing as well. His vocal gifts gives him a wide diversity and appeal and his conscious lyrics reach from the dancehall of Jamaica to the countryside of eastern Washington State.
On his debut album, Freedem Souljah, Essential I mixes timeless roots reggae, blazing hip hop, and almost "revolutionary" lyrical concepts to fuse a cohesive sound that is indeed quite unique. Many people who have heard this album find 5 or 6 songs that they can connect with, which in this day of "one-hit" albums, is refreshing to say the least. This album was a blessing to be a part of, and the first of many projects on his horizon!

Essential I is a very versatile and multi-talented vocal artist from north central Washington state. As a hiphop emcee and reggae/dancehall singer, his lyrical abilities and variations in delivery are nearly incomparable.
