"Next 1000"

"Brian Collins, also known as Essince from Tegucigalpa, Honduras, was adopted and raised in Ohio. At eleven he wrote his first song and earned his wings in musicianship. Obviously, he did not stop there, creating a name for himself and taking it to the hip-hop world. He's already been involved in many albums, features, interviews, etc., and it seems that he has just begun. In a way, Essince is the poster hip-hopper for the American dream."

Stow -- Brian "Essince" Collins remembers his days as a Stow first-grader when he kept changing his clothes backward to emulate his favorite rap group, Kris Kross.

Today, his devotion to rap music remains firm.

Collins, 22, who was raised in Stow and graduated in 2005 from Stow-Munroe Falls High School, has released eight albums. His most recent is "Essince: Future in the Making."

He will perform Jan. 18 at Peabody's in downtown Cleveland. The doors open at 8 p.m. and he will perform later that evening. He is opening for Chip the Ripper [Cleveland] with DJ Jack da Rippa, who is Collins' DJ.

Tickets, which are $15, can be purchased in advance by calling Collins at 330-***-**** or at the door. It is a show for all ages, but there is a $3 cover charge for anyone under 21.

Collins is currently working on six CDs and some artwork including a solo mix-tape, "The Adventures of Essince," another CD with Vibrant Originators Clothing [his sponsor from Norway] and DJ Jack da Rippa [Cleveland] called "Mr. International," a mix-tape with DJ G-Spot [Cleveland], and three projects with producers in St. Louis.

His parents, Pamela and Christopher Collins, live in Stow, which is his permanent address, while he finishes his senior year at Webster University in St. Louis, majoring in audio engineering with a minor in art.

In high school, he was an art student and also a member of the school band as an alto saxophone player since fifth grade. He played volleyball for four years and was a team co-captain.

"I started writing rap songs in fifth grade and released my first solo CD during my senior year in high school called 'Modern Day Cyrano' after reading Cyrano de Bergerac," he said.

His music can be found at: www.myspace.com/essince and he runs his own media/entertainment company, Royal Heir Entertainment.

He was also just added to URB magazine's NEXT1000 artists. Information can be found at: www.urb.com/next1000. - Stow Sentry

Bio

Considered the “poster hip hopper for the American dream” [URB Magazine], Essince was born into extreme poverty in Tegucigalpa, Honduras and put up for adoption at a young age before finally finding his place in hip hop. Raised in northeast Ohio and influenced by everything from Big Pun to the Temptations, Essince began his music career at the age of 11 and has since expanded his career beyond state and national borders. Essince has since been placed on URB Magazine’s “Next 1000” list and been sponsored by upscale Norwegian clothing company, Vibrant Originators. In late 2008 he established his company, Royal Heir Entertainment which specializes in audio engineering, graphic design, and journalism and he continues to impress audiences world-wide with his flawless wordplay.
