Esteban

Artist’s Biography:

This alluring singer-songwriter is blessed with the unique ability to deliver a song in English or Spanish, with a natural ease shared by few international recording artists. Esteban’s powerful yet soothing tenor voice has garnered awards in such prestigious competitions as the Music City Song Festival, the American Song Festival, and Kraft’s “La Mejor Musica” Festival. In the year 2001, he received an award from UNISONG, for his composition titled D.F.Y.B. (Do For Your Brother), a spirited hip hop track with memorable lyrics urging us to care for one another.

Having performed in public since childhood, this Chilean born singer credits his Latin heritage and his Motown era upbringing for his musical style. Los Angeles Radio Disc Jockey, Hector Resendez, (KPFK 90.7 FM), said it best when he said:

“Esteban is soulful, romantic and unmistakably Latin”.

Describing his beginnings as a performer, Esteban recalls that while serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, he took his self-taught guitar skills into Hawaii's popular nightclubs, where he was overwhelmed with demands for his Spanish music. One of his favorite moments occurred one night when after a long day of training, Esteban was playing his guitar for some of his fellow Marines. From the front of the barracks, the Sergeant hollered “turn off that %#@*^ radio!” As Esteban continued singing, the Sergeant stormed angrily to the rear of the barracks, launching expletives off the walls. When the Sergeant descended upon the crowd of listeners and realized that it was Esteban singing, his anger quickly subsided and he sheepishly sat to enjoy the intimate concert. It was this Sergeant that later assisted Esteban to secure his first nightclub performance! Since then Esteban has performed for thousands in numerous clubs and music festivals across the country.

Desirous of developing his full potential, Esteban has achieved acclaim not only as a singer-songwriter, but also as a business and entertainment lawyer. His years as a professional entertainer have enabled him to consult other musical artists, actors, and entertainers from a unique perspective. He has been a featured speaker at music industry conferences sponsored by the Songwriter's Guild of America, ALMA, Hispanic Academy of Media Arts and Sciences, Latino Entertainment Media Institute, the UCLA Music Extension Program, and California Lawyers for the Arts.

Esteban’s current CD “STARTING TODAY,” features eleven of his English and Spanish compositions. Co-produced by veteran composer and producer Raymond Torres-Santos (Danny Rivera, Julio Iglesias), and Donald Tavie (Prince, Norman Connors), this CD will rank among the favorites for aficionados of Latin-Pop, R&B, and Smooth Jazz.
