Bio

Band Biology:

The Jacksons, Van Halen, The Isley Brothers, The Brothers Johnson... Shared DNA somehow exerts its influence on the creation of music in a way that can be both dangerously virulent and impossible to resist. Such music implants itself in our collective protoconosciousness and distorts our metacultures as it propagates itself as a byproduct of biological life, indifferent to attempts to manipulate it, cultivate it, tame it.

Brandan and Alán Uribe were conveyed to this world by the same womb on the same morning. They processed music together before they were aware of the vastness of the world outside of that womb. They make music together in the present and into the future.

In the past they colonized a wasteland that was nevertheless overrun by highly evolved and specialized musical species living together in symbiotic balance. The black soil of Denton, Texas nurtured their prowess as musiclogists and musical experimenters and allowed it to grow wild. There, they were eventually adopted by the renegade band of mutant chimeras of Sub Olso who initiated them in the Black Arts and Life Sciences of the Dub Underworld. Early forrays into performing living Dub with Sub Oslo included opening shows in Dallas with Morcheeba and the Roots.

Later, Brandan and Alán established the Psionics Research Foundation to guard this knowledge for the righteous. They continue their dark congress with Sub Oslo for important feast days and are often elisted for their skill as players of instruments by various collaborators. On a recent pilgrimage to the mythic land of their progenitors, San Ygnacio, Texas, they learned of another, also devoted to the ways of the Dub, who was forging his path in the outlands of its mutant cousin: Dubstep

This chosen one was their mutant cousin, Pedro.

< Mode 2 >

Inevitably, Pedro left the world he knew and approached the mouth of this other dimension. Upon hearing the grand sound forms within this new sonic plane, did he wonder if anything he was ever told as a boy was true? Intrepidly, he set off to find out, applying the musical skills he was given in this world and advancing them.

As he tripped further down, Pedro became an apprentice of sound and was given a new name. After attending the Los Angeles Recording School, Pedro assumed his cover identity as a sound engineer by day, while consummating his sub-sonic bass techniques as P.Hz by night. Now initiated into the wisdom and knowledge of the Underground, P.Hz and Pedro have set out to offer it back to the world as a gift.

P.Hz has released under the RogueDubs electronic music label. Although most of his time is spent in the recording netherworld of his home studio or Bell Sound, he has shared his music around the West Coast, from Burning Man to rag-tag renegade warehouse parties in LA and has had his music showcased from Houston to Belgium. Pedro has recorded, mixed and or tracked with the likes of Ravi Coltrane, Aaron Mason, Tony Smalios, Metaphase and many others, as well as the up-and-coming band “Love in the Circus.”

It has been said that, as P.Hz, Pedro can call forth the perfect frequencies within the lush, synthy atmospheres supported by pumping drum and sub-frequency pressures to share the spirits of the outer-common dimension.
