Eta Carinae

Eta Carinae

BandRockMetal

Aggressive music done tastefully. An amalgam of melody, precision, and rock genres.

Biography

Individually they respond to Riley, Jose, Nathan, and Brock, but collectively they are Eta Carinae. The name is in reference to a star in our sky that has a short but unique existence. Being born with an excess amount of energy, this ill-fated star is prone to instability and completely unpredictable in its actions. Because of these factors this star will never progress to its full potential. For the band this doomed star is not merely a pretentious metaphor representing a tragic life they claim to live, but rather a simple and effective source of inspiration. The objective becomes the subjective and at the very least helps to better define their hopes and conceptions regarding the band.

Whilst attending high school in Dallas, the three founding members maintained a healthy musical alliance, despite their involvement in different bands. Secondary schooling put Riley and Nathan within close proximity of one another, and a few threatening phone calls to Brock led to his belated but much anticipated arrival. The tri-force set up shop in San Marcos, Texas, a small town just south of Austin and began the search for a bass player/friend/unicorn aficionado. The trio continued to write music and their anticipation to perform, coupled with several unsuccessful bassist trials, resulted in multiple shows being played sans bass. The positive response was immediate and only further motivated the band to complete its lineup. Finally, in the fall of 2004, Jose was introduced to the group through a mutual friend. His motivation, ability and smokin’ hot buns were up to par, and he quickly became the fourth and final member.

A relocation to Austin in the summer of 2005 has brought Eta Carinae even closer to the heart of Texas rock. The band hopes to pump some much needed life into an increasingly sterile scene. Focusing on the content of their music rather than their wardrobe or gimmicks should hopefully aid in the process. Confident in their potential and ability, Eta Carinae is just looking for the opportunity to play.
