"Faces of Hip-Hop"

Over time the group Etcetera, comprised of Shiz and Self, has brought hip-hop in its true essence, whether it was behind the scenes or right in the limelight. The past success the group has had from music to T.V. shows has made them more in-tune with their craft. The new single “Welcome 2 Brooklyn” should wedge a new spot on hip-hop’s concrete wall. The southern bounce mixed with that signature Brooklyn flow is destined to place ETCETERA in a position of hip-hop’s next 100.

"Change Gon' Come"

“Welcome 2 Brooklyn” the 4th Single from this underrated Brooklyn hip-hop ETCETERA is sure to be a refreshing spot to your cd or mp3 player. This composition re-confirms to me that hip hop has not been completely taken over by Jewelry, Cars, Money and hoes, content of rhymes. Just in the 1st verse Shiz (the Lyricist) gives you a lyrical breakdown of styles where he’s able to ride the track and still say something. This puts me in the mind of our quality rappers like Biggie, Pun, Early Jay-Z, and Super Lover Cee. The anthem chorus about their borough takes me back to hip-hop choruses of Doug E. Fresh, Naughty of Nature & Biz Markie. The group’s extensive hip-hop lineage puts them in a place to do nothing else but create hip-hop originals.

- Michael James – The Truth

"Next........"

This group has been very instrumental in the industry from behind the scenes. Their overall success has been nothing to shake a stick at. You got two guys from Brooklyn that went from freestyle and making beats to one of the underground’s hottest producers, being ghostwriters for some of your hottest artists to introducing their own sound as a group to the underground and college market. This team has brought joints like “Beez Like That, Tonight” featuring Gauge and UG of the Dwellas, Hang’M, and the proclaimed flow of the year song “Kodak Man”. The success continued with their 47th Annual Grammy–ballot for their hip-hop rock collab song “OH NO” and the sage is about to get better with their new entry “Welcome 2 Brooklyn” a song that fuses lyrical skills and a down-south flow over an array of drums and sounds that messed together perfectly. Together with the industry’s newest producers Glen “GP” Chapman and Jason “Holy Hands” Chapman, this single should be a breath of fresh air to those fans that have missed the true hip-hop feel.

- Kevin Handwright – Hip Hop Society (The Underground’s Answer)

"ETCETERA....The Newest Entries"

“Welcome 2 Brooklyn,” the new single from Etcetera has the energy to get more than your head bobbing this season. Not that there is a shortage of representation from this borough, but with their catchy hook, Etcetera wants you to know Brooklyn is where it’s at. The flow on this single is reminiscent of early Bone Thugs N’ Harmony, mixed with a New York flair. Welcome 2 Brooklyn is a song that will get Etcetera noticed and have fans wanting to hear more of what these brothers have to offer.

"True Hip-Hop"

In this day and age of music especially Hip-Hop, we are sorely missing artists who display refreshing and original material. However, there is one duo straight from the planet Brooklyn who is here to give us a tall glass of true hip- hop: Shiz and Self, better known as "Etcetera". Consider this duo as the taste you’ve been waiting for. Last year they blended hip-hop with alternative & rock for their single “Oh No!” and this eclectic mixture placed them on the ballots for the 47th Annual Grammy’s - no easy feat for a duo considered underground for years! Their latest single "Welcome 2 Brooklyn" is a concoction of crisp and clean verses, mixed with the East and a dash of the West; it’s sure to quench your thirst for a new BK anthem. If 2005 left a sour taste in your mouth, cleanse your palate with this latest single and prepare for the main course: the upcoming album entitled “14:59”. - Boogie - IB Concepts Magazine
