Bio

Life has not always been sweet for this 27-year old Nigerian born, Urban/Pop & Hip-Hop recording artist. Eteka, now lives in Toronto, Canada and is launching his solo career to create a new wave of music, a sound mixed with hip-hop and African flavor. His love for music began when he was a child. Music became an escape, a place he could go to dismiss the terrible memories of childhood that he now resents. When asked about his childhood, he would say it was a life full of hard labor and abuse. He recalls being deprived of the basic necessities that we all need in life. To manage and survive abuse in Nigeria’s poverty-stricken environment, he had to mature quickly. After migrating to Canada, Eteka found himself on the wrong side of the track. At 19, he started selling drugs and running the streets to make a living. It wasn’t long before he was charged for a crime that led him 120 days of community service and 17 weeks in an anger management program. Upon his release, he was stranded and having nowhere to go or any family support became homeless. He later rebounded and began performing in clubs and bars hoping someone would take notice of his talent. He auditioned for Canadian Idol, but dropped out, deciding it wasn’t for him. In 2005, Eteka and a friend he met at the Canadian Idol formed the group, St. Eves. Under record labels, Attack Group/Universal, they released their debut album “All That I Need”. The group went their separate ways in 2008 with Eteka striking out on his own. Today, Eteka is signed to Atlanta based Sereniti Records and will soon be releasing his debut single, “Got Dat Glow”. The single has an upbeat flow and tasteful lyrics that are catchy. Eteka plans on using his musical platform to become an advocate for children in Nigeria, who have witnessed and experienced abuse and enslavement.
