Bio

The Birth of Eternal Legacy

It was August of 2003 when brothers Jason and Shaun Vanek founded the band Eternal Legacy. Shaun Vanek, a young guitar virtuoso, and Jason Vanek's agressive rythmn playing and harmonious vocals. Their drummer, Steve Dukuslow, whose drumming techniques included fierce double bass antics with a very technical and precise sense of playing was the perfect match for the borthers' heavy yet technical approach to music. Steve had also previously played with them in a different band called Mercinary. Eternal Legacy began their quest in their home studio in Parma, Ohio. The band began writing music under a blend of Baroque, and 20th century symphonic orchestrations and Power metal which could be compaired with bands such as - Rhapsody, Blind Guardian, Human Fortress, and Kamelot. The band did not waste any time, they immediately began writing for their first promotional EP titled "I".

Although music had been written, Eternal Legacy was still searching for a bassist, and a keyboard player. Lead guitarist Shaun Vanek discovered bassist Joe Grandinetti at a jam session in Parma. Grandinetti's style was influenced by bass legends Pastorius, Claypool, and John Myung. Joe hooked up with the other members of the band and finished the recording of "I".

With the EP complete, Eternal Legacy was still lacking one important member in the band. Tom Birkel, a young keyboard prodigy, received a copy of "I", and did not hesitate to respond. Tom's youth and advanced technical skills melded perfectly with the rest of the band. By May of 2004 the band's lineup was officially complete.
Knowing the bands style fits under the genre of symphonic power metal; Eternal Legacy found their first promotional opportunity on Atlanta Georgia's Prog Power fifth compellation disc. The song that was chosen to be put on the disc was "Fire's Wrath".

In November of 2005, Tom Berkel left the band for personal reasons. But it wasn't long after that they stumbled upon the young classically trained metalhead pianist Spencer Phillips whom continues on as a permanent replacement.

Not only will the band be working hard on future releases, they will also be spreading the music across the world, to show that there is still hope for an American power metal band.
