Bio

Truly a “gateway of peoples,” Anatolia has been the scene of some of the most sincere examples of human brotherhood as well as some of the most cruel struggles between brothers. And out of all this – from the joys, the loves and especially from the sorrows, come the folk songs of Anatolia, turku. These joys, passions and perhaps most of all, the sorrows, continue today. Turku and laments continue to stir the emotions, to bring people to tears. Why is it that brothers sharing the same soul, the same skin, the same past and present, continue to fight to the death? What provokes people to abandon their view of another as human, of their brotherhood, and make an issue of their backgrounds? The chaotic nature of ethnic structures which creates an “us and them” mentality and the consequent enmity? Or is it the subtle games of sly foxes which inflame their brothers to fight over their common piece of land? All this being a part of life, isn’t the humane thing then to hold fast to the vast tolerance and brotherhood of Anatolia, and all together, sing the countless turku which praise love, respect and brotherhood? Because Anatolia hides within herself all the means to rend and be rid of all of the ugliness of this age. Above all, there her children; brave, sincere and full of love. And like new seeds of hope, some of them have been scattered, sprouted, and desire to take root. Sharing the common name “Etni-ka,” they deeply aware of and strive to point out the confusion and unrest brought about by ethnicity and chaos. Their greatest aspect is this: in our country, which is quickly polarizing into a society of congregations, they have bravely chosen to take a stand against the worn-out ways; encouraging the brotherhood of man rather than seeking refuge in and fomenting discrimination. With clear knowledge, perseverance and courage, they choose the enlightened path…
