Bio

Straight out of Columbus, Ohio, this 15 year old, hip-hop/R&B singer/songwriter, Etté, is definitely the next big teen sensation. Etté, pronounced (Et-tay), has been setting out to make an impression since the tender age of 4, just as a hobby.

At 6, Etté gained a lead soloist position at her church in the youth choir. Practicing and performing weekly made her vocals blend with perfection and strength at an early age. Etté has such a unique sound that it cannot be described with just one word. Talent that stems from her religious background coupled with her musical influences which include Patti LaBelle, Whitney Houston, Karen Clark-Sheard, Lauryn Hill, Aaliyah, and Mary J. Blidge.

At the age of 8, Etté’s mother, who managed and owned a local booking agency, recognized her daughter’s ambition to become an entertainer and decided to showcase her performing skills at local talent-shows and showcases.

"Being on stage for the first time was a great experience for me. At first I was terrified! I really didn’t think that I was ready to go up on stage, but I had convinced all my family & friends that I could do it and it was too late to turn back. When I stepped on that stage and had everybody’s attention on me, it was clear to me where I belonged. Once I was on that stage, you couldn’t get me off. I’ll never forget the feeling. I loved it. Being on stage pushed me to get more in tune with my decision to become an entertainer.” Says, Etté.

Being so young Etté struggled to break through barriers, competing against entertainers much older than her. Some people thought that she was too young to be serious enough to succeed. Now Etté’s talent and experience has earned her more respect.

This petite performer’s persistent attitude earned her a demo deal with Infantry Records, an independent record label based out of Columbus, Ohio. Etté teamed up with producer Waheed "Mann" Barton to do a three song demo.

Etté, only 13 when she wrote her first single titled “Tell Me Whassup,” which is the first track on her demo, and "Do Ya Think" the second song on track was written by Niquia Clark an upcomming singer/songwriter. Trunell Salter, a singer/songwriter, wrote and arranged “Hard 2 Get”, the third track on the demo and Waheed composed and recorded the music for all three tracks.

Etté’s demo definitely has issues that teens can relate to, coupled with high energy hip-hop dance tracks and catchy hooks.
