19 year old songstress and piano player Etta Smith releases her debut EP on Monday 12th December 2011 with Soulful ballad “Sold” as the lead single. The EP will be a collection of songs all performed and written by Etta showcasing her phenomenal vocals and emotive song writing.
Singing from a very early age & listening to a variety of music including her father’s vast collection of Northern soul and her mother’s 70’s disco has heavily influenced Etta’s musical direction. Her love of Soul, R’b’B and Jazz, paired with an interest in more recent music, such as the Maccabees and Emeli Sande, make for an innovative and exciting debut from the Newcastle native.
Since her signing to BGM/HKA in July 2010, Etta has been putting together material, honing her sound and lyric content and coming up with her overall direction, culminating in her debut EP “Discover Me”. Her songs range from piano driven ballads to up-tempo tracks with a vintage yet contemporary feel.
Etta will be heading out on a mini UK promotional tour with her band from next year.
