"On Radar Review"

McGuinness is one of the most talented singer-songwriters Liverpool has seen in a long while. Touting razor-sharp lyrics, a well-worn guitar and a swag-bag of influences that belie his tender age, Eugene has been raising more than one eyebrow around the city. And it's not just the punters who've been impressed, catch this talented young buck in an intimate setting while you've still got time. Eugene plays In The City at Manchester's Baby Grand, on October 30th. - NME

"Review of Lupen Crook Gig"

Ironically Eugene McGuinness pulls more of a crowd than the headlining act; an established local artist in Liverpool, he is keenly placed at the top of his game despite his split from the original line up of Karmen Vega earlier this year. Far from the definitively rock sound he previously delivered, his solo music has been adapted to suit his characteristically alternative voice and is all the better for it. With quirky and undeniable talent he manages to deliver fashionably witty lyrics in song “Ooohhhh!” but constantly plays his acoustic guitar in a way not dissimilar to Lupen Crook himself. Besides the music and important to every good gig, he also has enough charisma and confidence to assert himself on stage and concludes with an admirable applause. - Gigwise

"In The City Review"

Act of the festival: Eugene McGuinness - Liverpool-based, Irish-sounding acoustic solo guy. Great vocal range and ingenius conversational lyrics. Should support Patrick Wolf or Bat for Lashes. - Manchester Music

"In The City Review"

Given the amount of industry types there are crushed into the basement of The Bay Horse it’s fair to say there’s a little bit of interest in acoustic singer-songwriter, Eugene McGuinness. Eugene has a charming, laid back style, delivering songs such as 'Madeleine' and 'Oh' with his lilting, almost haunting vocals that are instantly likeable and a little Damien Rice in parts. One to watch. - Xfm

Bio

Eugene, 21, has been playing solo for only a year, but has been attracting attention with his razor sharp lyrics, mesmerising, almost haunting voice and undeniable talent.
Born in London, with an Irish upbringing, he now resides in Liverpool where he is a local favourite. His new take on the singer-songwriter stereotype has seen him gain TV and radio play, with particular support from Huw Stevens on BBC Radio 1 and Janice Long on Radio 2, be spotlighted on Record of the Day, and after a busy festival-filled summer, showcased at last year’s In The City.
2007 has seen Eugene sign to Domino Publishing, with his first mini album release due out in early spring on label of same name. You'll be able to catch Eugene showcasing at SXSW in Texas in March or on tour in England throughout April and May.
