The best kept secret in music

Before launching a new product, a great deal of research and devlopment needs to be done. Paul Howard Johnson doesn't think a rock band should be any different. That's why, after leaving WestJet to become a stay-at-home dad, he also spent that year writing music as well as on the computer researching how to get his band Eurodog in front of the public. "That basic plan has to be in place of the approach you want to take," Johnson says. "Our approach was never to be ' Let's just go to play every town we can and hope we get signed.' We've done anything but that'. That includes having three albums worth of material already written, including the songs that make up their debut AS Long As It Takes, which they'll release with a show toinight at Rust Cage. The band, which also features Jennifer Grenada, Jay Morris, Sanders and Cheif Stewart, have a mainstream "pop metal" sound that draws on members influences including Jethro Tull, Guns N Roses and the Stones. After the Cd release, the rest of the plan for the year is to gig around Calgary before venturing out east in the summer for some dates. We're aiming to turn pro by January." Johnson says. "Right now we're a semi-pro band." - Calgary Sun

Bio
EURODOG is an acoustic based pop-metal hard- rock five-piece, started in January 2004 as an answer to what the members consider to be a real need for original melodic rock music around the globe.
Stylistically, EURODOG tries to fill a niche for the modern hard rock arena, in an attempt to capture the spirit of the best of the old school London rock melody sound and the cream of the late 1980’s hard rock scene.
The band members eagerly cite influences ranging from Led Zeppelin, Alice in Chains, and Jethro Tull all the way to Fleetwood Mac, Otis Redding, and The Band. Its diverse members meld acoustic pop-metal driven harmonies and melodies, gorgeous, soaring vocals, massive percussion and solos that aren’t necessarily confined by radio friendly time constraints or current trends. Underneath all of this are bass lines that defy modern rock convention by often leading melodies in a fury of sound. Eurodog stays true to its core belief that it is the embodiement of the song, and its diversity that matters.
