Bio

Born and raised in New York City's East Village, Eva Lin has music and performance in her blood and bones.  Daughter of East Village underground legend Rew Starr, Eva graced many New York City stages including the infamous CBGB’s before the age of 3.

Her parents were in bands together while Eva was growing up, enthralled in the Rock n Roll scene. At home there was always music playing, and loudly.  Her father introduced her to the sound that came out of Muscle Shoals. With his Rock n Roll and Soul music collection mixed with her Mother’s R&B and Punk Rock, Eva grew up listening to everyone from Al Green, Aretha Franklin, and Stevie Wonder, to Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, and The Ramones.

“My first babysitter was the television.  My mom would record hours upon hours of music videos from when MTV actually played music, and she would put that on and I would be mesmerized all day long.  I would sing and dance and learned all Michael Jackson, Madonna, and Prince choreography.  And all words to every song.”

Always performing for her family, and making appearances on stage at her parents’ shows, Eva would sing back-up for her mother whenever she had the chance.  Eva first began writing songs at the age of 9, and at 14 she began to teach herself guitar.  But somewhere along the way, Eva, looking for rebellion, began to reject her eclectic musical upbringing.  She went to school pursuing acting, wanting to be as opposite as her mother as possible.  But while studying at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, she re-found the Blues at a little bar in London’s Soho neighborhood, and the rest history.  She began to play her original songs live accompanying herself on the guitar.  When she returned to New York she made the rounds on the open mic circuit, then booking gigs and again sharing the stage with well renowned acts such as her mother Rew Starr, Alan Merrill, and Patti Rothberg.

Eva currently resides in New York City and is recording her debut full-length album, 'Less Than Love' with producer Jeremy Loucas set to be released Summer 2015.  With her soulful voice, bluesy riffs, and rock n roll attitude, Bryan Defiance of The Bloody Muffs calls her "a superstar in waiting." A natural and fearless songwriter, this pocket-sized powerhouse will steal your heart with her charm, sense of humour, and sass.
