"Review: EVAN COWDEN/ ALL."

This release from 2005 features 27 minutes of dance music.

This music is lushly orchestrated. The popping bass is prominent and quite tasty. The e-perc churns with lively rhythms with carefree abandon. Sinuous electronics generate a luxurious dancefloor environment. Keyboards sweep and cavort, delivering snappy riffs that evoke silvered walls and flashing lights.

Sultry vocals extol the virtues of being young and having fun.

The tunes are solid and entrancing, blending vibrant tempos with seductive melodies filled with clever hooks.

This disc features three versions of two tracks: a remix, a radio edit and an instrumental version. Remarkably, the instrumental takes sound more embellished than the remixes.

Bio

MERGING DANCE AND THE MAINSTEAM "Smalltown Boy", Evan Cowden attended Boston's BERKLEE COLLEGE OF MUSIC after being awarded a vocal performance Scholarship. There he studied his craft along side such vocal greats as Layla Hathaway and Grammy Award Winner Paula Cole. Strongly influenced by the post-modern/new-wave movements of the early 1980's, and inspired by such vocalists as Jimmy Somerville, Lisa Stansfield, Tracey Thorn (everything but the girl), Alison Moyet and Andrew Bell; Evan Cowden has succeeded in drawing from heavy synth pop arrangements like those of Vince Clarke and the Pet Shop Boys, blending them with contemporary house and R&B flavor, while always maintaining a strong commercial POP sensibility. Evan has created a style all his own... "Unique vocal electronica with a strong pop-crossover appeal". Now, Evan has teamed up with multi-platinum producer Geza X (The Dead Kennedys, Josie Cotton, BlackFlag, Tyler Hilton and Merideth Brookes smash hit single "Bitch") to create "10 days at Satellite Park"...a collection of original songs & dance covers that represent his life long journey back to mainstream commercial POP! Evan Cowden also lends his writing and production skills to several other dance artists... he is currently producing and remixing tracks for HI-NRG pioneer Ernest Kohl's upcoming 2007 wide angle/Sony Records release. Through his production company, BOBD Productions, Evan continues to seek out new talent and helps them produce quality music in the hopes that he can play a role in finding the next generation of recording artists and chart topping hits!
