Biography

Evan Denlinger was born and raised in the town of Spokane, WA. The oldest of 6, he understands and can empathize with people on many levels. He grew up appreciating the value of honesty, work ethic, commitment and faith.

With a church background in music and arts, Evan found his place as a singer and performer early on.
At the age of 13, he picked up a ukulele and realized he had a natural gifting for stringed instruments. It wasn't long before his desire to express himself as a writer began to blossom.

Early influences came from bands like the Allies, Whiteheart and Michael W. Smith. Later on, he found a connection with writers like Joel Hanson from PFR and Ty Tabor from King's X.

Evan is not one to go with trends and cookie cutter songwriting. There is a uniqueness in him that calls to the listener to live life to it's fullness; take risks and be better for it in the end.

Now a husband and father of four, he continues to use life experience and the love for his family to stir his creativity and desire to express himself.

Lyrics

Dead Man Walking

Written By: Evan Denlinger

This is a story, this is a song.
A life that lost it’s meaning a dead man without feeling
Stripped of his glory. he lost his song
He could not find his reasons this was a dying season

Bridge:
He lost his way when he was young
He lost the tune to his own song
The life he had was thrown away
His empty heart had gone astray

Chorus:
He lived, he died, he lost, but he tried to find a way to make right by what he did
The tears that he cried, the pain in his eyes, he wished he could go back to a better time

Painting a picture, what was his home
His family, wife and children, the life that he was living
Now he’s in prison it’s his last song
The last time he’ll be thinking about the love he’s missing

bridge
chorus (2x)

With his last breath, with all he had, he gave his heart, she gave her hand
With his last breath, with all he had, he gave his heart, she gave her hand.

Castle

Written By: Evan Denlinger

Like a castle in the sand
Turn a dream into a plan
Give it wings and let it fly
Never letting hope die

Though it’s hard to let it go
Winds of change start to blow
Watch the time make its demand
No more castles in the sand

Wash away all the good and bad
Try to grab what you thought you had
Twisted thoughts lost in your mind
Different dreams for another time

All washed away
(Feel like letting go)
No words to say
(Just a moment lost in time)
You gave all you had
(Now I’m standing by your side)
So just hold my hand
(We’ve got each other to lean on)

Another time and another place
Different thoughts at a different pace
Deeper heart with a deeper dream
Images like a steady stream
Hesitation to run
Nothing new under the sun
In your heart you know you can
No more castles in the sand

Wash away all the good and bad
Try to grab what you thought you had
Twisted thoughts lost in your mind
Different dreams for another time

All washed away
(Feel like letting go)
No words to say
(Just a moment lost in time)
You gave all you had
(Now I’m standing by your side)
So just hold my hand
(We’ve got each other to lean on)

Loved Ones

Written By: Evan Denlinger

Just a little girl you wanted to grow up to be a star
All your hopes and dreams the things that you had hidden in your heart
At 17 you’d grown to be a woman standing on her own.
You met the man that gave you everything he could, he gave his heart

I, I miss you
I, I miss you

You gave everything to see your little boys turn into men
Through the hardest times you showed your family love again and again

You were there when I needed you. You gave yourself away.
Your love life made a difference and now I want to say,

That I, I miss you
I, I miss you
I, I miss you
I, I miss you

You showed us love by giving all you had, withholding nothing
to see your family cared for made you glad, you gave us everything

I, I miss you
I, I miss your smiles
