As a band Evanescence started of in the small town of Little Rock, Arkansas, in 1995, with Amy lee and Ben Moody as the writers. Because Lee studied classical piano for 9 years she wanted to incorporate what she new into something bigger becoming what we now know as Evanescence. With the mixture of classical, and goth, the genre of this band is still debated today. It has been agreed that it is an alternative sound but specifically which sound, no one can pin point.

Recently the band has been in and out of the studio working on their next album, said to hit stores during that fall of 2010, which is going to be produced by Steve Lillywhite. They have played shows in the United Nations and also are a part of the United Nations Foundation helping to raise money for the charity and the relief efforts in Haiti. They have played in many secret shows, and benefits as well as doing secret interviews.

Future plans for the band include the release of the new album with new material and more albums sold. There is also some anticipation about having more sound tracks in movies, and indie films.
