Evan's Dilemma

Evan's Dilemma (ED) reformed in 2005 to record a full length CD and to do select tour dates in 2006. The new album, Shine Baby Shine, released June 2006 on Velocitopia Records, was recorded at Edwin McCain's new Studio 6 in Greenville, SC. ED originally started fall 1990 in Greenville, SC. The band was one of the earliest alternative power pop bands in South Carolina. ED played local and regional shows and eventually relocated to Tennessee. After five years of skirting with record labels, performing with bands such as Collective Soul and Superdrag, and being produced and managed by Armand John Petri (Goo Goo Dolls, 10,000 Maniacs), the members were pulled into other directions and musical endeavors starting with the collaboration with Drue Bachmann forming My Friend Stephanie in 1995.

Evan's Dilemma's original guitar-driven power pop/rock takes influence from both classic and newer artists such as Big Star, Husker Du, Bob Mould, Sugar, The Replacements, U2, Beatles, The 77's, The Neigborhoods, REM, Goo Goo Dolls, Midnight Oil, Matthew Sweet, Fountains of Wayne, Weezer, The Cars, Oasis, The Pixies, The Cure, The Kinks, The Clash, AC/DC, The Alarm, XTC, The Smiths, Morrissey, Peter Gabriel, Paul Simon, The Church, The Choir, Coldplay, Tears For Fears, Rush, The Replacements, Switchfoot, Coldplay, The Beach Boys, Brian Wilson, and Spinal Tap.

After being a founding member of Evan's Dilemma, McCreight Recorded and released Makeover an Innocent Records release in 1996. After touring with My friend Stephanie for a year, McCreight joined the Christian rock group Geoff Moore and the Distance. During his three year tenure with the band, McCreight co-wrote the Grammy Nominated album Threads (Forefront 1997) that achieved 3 number one hits and other top forty placements on Christian rock radio. McCreight also toured with the Newsboys and Jars of Clay while in the band. After leaving Geoff Moore and the Distance, McCreight became the guitarist for award winning and critically acclaimed folk-rock/pop artist Jennifer Knapp. While in his tenure with Knapp, McCreight embarked on a 100 city tour with Grammy winning DC Talk. McCreight is also now involved in creating music for film.

Heuer was also an original member of Evan's Dilemma and My Friend Stephanie, recording Makeover (Innocent Records 1996) and All the Pieces (Grey Dot 1997). After leaving Evan's Dilemma and My Friend Stephanie, Heuer joined the Athens based Vigilantes of Love (VOL) and recorded and released Summer Shine in 2000. While in his tenure with VOL, he also toured America and Europe and played a number of music festivals. Heuer has played and currently sitting in with other local and regional bands and is currently also a drum instructor at Eastside Guitars in Greenville. Heuer is also a regular session drummer at regional studios.

Ebert was a member of the original Evan's Dilemma. After Evan's Dilemma, Chris joined My Friend Stephanie and recorded and released Makeover (Innocent Records 1996). Chris also toured the US with My Friend Stephanie for two years. After leaving My Friend Stephanie, Ebert started playing for Brookwood Community Church's music band. Ebert has also done local and regional session work.

Mike Horner (Guitars, Keys, Backing Vocals) – Horner joined the new and improved Evan's Dilemma. His stylistic approach to guitar and keyboarding brings a more lush experience to the Evan's Dilemma sound. Horner owns and operates a home music studio for hire where he produces and engineers local/regional artist. Horner has become an integral part of completing Evan's Dilemma.

Jay Scott is a recent addition to Evan's Dilemma. Scott is a natural born rock ‘n roller with a good attitude and an axe to grind. He not only brings an edgy guitar tone to the band but songwriting talents as well.

"This band was always dear to us even though we accomplished many other endeavors. We always had a reputation for our live shows and our unique blend of original alternative power pop. It was truly a shame that the band never got its first CD out during the first five years amidst many opportunities on the table in the early to mid-nineties. We are now back to rewrite history. “Shine Baby Shine” is a passionate album and was alone worth us getting back together again. We will release 1 or 2 albums worth of our old songs next year also."
