Evan Taylor Jones

This was not what I expected when I decided to review was is essentially a demo album. Evan Taylor Jones’ Stories From My Room- E.P. opens up with an inspiring track, great mix, and very nice nice stereo imaging. Of course, as well the heart warming melodies. The The 2nd song, “Larry”, goes into an interesting exploration of Evans obvious love of his family, it makes me think of spending time with the people I love most. It is very inspiring and accompanied by some great back up vocals. The minimal percussion in this song also really emphasizes the complexity of the acoustic guitar line. “The Simple Things You Do To Me” is a beautiful duet between Evan and Kaitlin Raye Takach. The organ is pivotal in making this song a soul gem. This song really grooves along, making anyone who is listening bob their head. There is a very quiet synthesizer line that really ties this mix. This song shows Evan Taylor Jones’ maturity into soul super-stardom. ”Vampire”seems a little out of place on this album, this song shows a side of Evan we don’t see a lot. This song is charged with emotion and a sad atmosphere. Evan continues into a little rapping section, which is a little odd. This song also seems to be a little less polished then the other tracks. This sounds like Evan Taylor Jones raw and uncut. Finally “Closer, Together” departs from the subject matter of the latter track back to the positive atmosphere of the other songs on the E.P.. Evan Taylor Jones’s Stories from my Room, is over all a gleaming gem of positive soul music. For supposedly being recorded in a room this is a great E.P.. Get into it, digest it, and live your life positively. - Booked Promotions

Wow, hands down one of the best albums out right now, let alone the fact that this is an independent artist. The worst part about this album is that it is only four songs. The absolutely amazing groove and guitar riffs of “Over Your Shoulder” will give you chills. The album is so well written, produced, and just overall put together it is fantastic. Some songs are incredibly deep and will move you like music has never moved you before, the meaningful lyrics of “Father” will bring a tear to your eye.
The musicians in this album are absolutely amazing, knowing that Evan Taylor Jones is predominately an acoustic artist, adding this full band for this album was the best decision. It is mind-blowing how great this album is, catchy, and yet eclectic enough to tell that the musicians really know what they’re doing. Not to mention the amazingly written lyrics. Honestly my biggest problem with this album is how small it is because it leaves you wanting more, and on top of that, I could not find it anywhere online for purchase. This blues and soulful album will surely amaze you, by far one of the best albums I own right now, I cannot wait for his next album. I highly suggest getting this album and leaving it on repeat until you have memorized every last word. Near perfection. - Booked Promotions
