Lyrics

Aces and Angels

Written By: Eve Rantzer

1.
Six months on the road, a few lifetimes in jail,
Crimes of the heart,
Seventeen miles straight down, I could reform,
But where would I start?
And when I look up through the glass of time
I can see lightning and I'm
So grateful the stars are shinin' tonight
For you, my sweet angel

(CHORUS) Aces have kept me chasing the road
Hooked on fool's gold, stupid and broke,
Where would I be, God only knows,
If not for angels.

2.
They say it's too late, when the gun's in your hand,
To shoot at the wall,
And when you've drawn a bead between a man's eyes,
He's destined to fall,
But I've laid hands on the heart inside,
My friend, when you stand by my side,
My hands fill with stars, they fall in the night,
Spillin' diamonds on angels.

CHORUS

3.
So stick a rose in your teeth, put on your best shoes
And dance until dawn,
When you've ravished the ladies,
They won't finger you later, by what you had on;
And wherever you go, leave some bread and wine,
The lucky will guide you through time,
Look up at the stars, there's a million tonight,

And the road's full of angels.

CHORUS

The Cruise

Written By: Eve Rantzer

1.
It's the way o' the world when you lose love,
Thought you had a runnin' start,
Learn to pay better attention to what you want, oh,
It's a string of pearls the cost of which will take everything you ever earn,
But the light at the end of that tunnel,
Is worth your heart, oh,

(CHORUS) Sunrise over a snowfall,
Jump in the river get clean and new,
Realize your soul means somethin' to you fine and true, oh,
Someone's up makin' strong coffee,
Sing in the mornin', chase the blues,
Come sit down, I want to hear about the Road ...
AND DON'T YOU KNOW IT'S ....

2.
A Trojan horse stealin' into your mind through a chasm in the dead o' night,
Rage, take your vision, steal your sight, oh,
Old remorse comin' in for a landing, and you can feel the end,
Never lose courage, take no prisoners,
Find that friend, oh,

CHORUS

AND DON'T YOU KNOW IT'S ....

3.
The lion runnin' to rescue the lamb from the garden in the nick o'time,
Seek your eyes among the blessed, you shall find, oh,
Siren, sing your song to the sailor, when his God's asleep,
Lay me down, pray this song my soul to keep, oh,

CHORUS

Come and sing to me about the Road ...
And don't you know, it's ...

BRIDGE

Breakfast in bed with the Man in the Moon,
Lighting a fire in the evening rain,
Someone takin' your face in their hands,
Kissin' away the tears, and it's ...
Making a stand in the face of the lies,
Walking tall even when you're in pain,
Takin' someone's life in your hands,
Kissing away the fear, oh,

CHORUS

.... and don't you know it's the ...

.... It's The Cruise.

A Stone from the Ashes

Written By: Eve Rantzer

1.
If you cared -
You could have the key to the city that beats inside of me
If you dared -
You would stay the night, learn the language of fire,

Were you brave -
When you took your coat, with a trite line, a recent quote,
You're a slave -
To your limousines, and you kiss like a twopenny liar.

(CHORUS) I - I - I've died in the crashes of -
Interaction on a long-term basis, the burned-out stasis,
Drowned in the flashes of love, oh oh,

I - I - I've left all the glory, the inside story
Behind young desire, hands in the fire,
Take a stone from the ashes of love.

2.
Try trust - someone genuine,
But you're late for dinner and you're out of time,
Don't touch -
You might muss your hair, you might learn the language of fire,

Play your trump - What you always use,
When the dealer's watching, you have to move,
When you jump -
Your epitaph will read "He lived like a twopenny liar."

CHORUS - 2X

Think Twice

Written By: Eve Rantzer

1.
Did you say you're not mine? Did you say you are leaving the fold?
Well, Your friends - will be gone when the nights get cold.
Walkin' out that door?
Rags to riches, your time has come, carry on,
But think twice:
Once you lock it behind you it's gone, oh yeah,
Think twice, once you lock it behind you it's gone.

2.
Did you think I'm a fool? "Come to Papa, open wide."
Well, you'll find suckers ain't so dumb on the inside.
And did you say it's your time,
This world is the flag you've won, Carry on,
But think twice:
Once you lock it behind you it's gone, oh yeah,
Think twice, once you lock it behind you it's gone.

BRIDGE

They'll give you money, cover your shots,
But don't plan any long stays;
'Cause Ho-ney, when you've given all you got,
They'll say, "Here's your hat and have a nice damn day .... WHOA!

3.
So you're tradin' our love for some cash-and-carry and some mouth-to-mouth,
Well, Your friends will be gone when your luck goes South.....
And did you say you feel fine, Fate is calling, You are the One, carry on,
But think twice:
Once you lock it behind you it's gone, oh yeah,
Think twice:
Once you lock it behind you it's gone, oh yeah honey,
Think twice:
Once you lock it behind you it's -
Gone

The Devil's Chevy

Written By: Eve Rantzer

1.
There's a man who's a medicine maker, and he takes his cash up front,
Like a pusher in his palace, he waters down his stuff,
And he ships it in his aeroplane, to the lands of the sick and poor,
When the 'Times reporter nails him,
He says, "Boys, I didn't know...."

(CHORUS) Well, you can ride in the Devil's Chevy and he'll even let you drive,
You can floor it on his desert highway thinkin' that it's great to be alive;
But when you try to get to water, he will laugh behind your eyes,
One mile from the river, that's where beauty dies.

2.
Well, he's always re-elected, he's the big boy at the club,
He's a sureshot for the Big One, the First Lady calls him ... Trouble;
And his prostitutes are movie stars, and his hits are public paid,
He's smart enough to turn around, but he's dumb enough to keep gettin' laid,

Well, you can ride in the Devil's Chevy and he'll even let you drive,
You can floor it on his desert highway thinkin' you're the king of shuck & jive;
But when you try to get to water, he will laugh behind your eyes,
One mile from the river, that's where beauty dies.

Well, there's secret talks at the plastics plant, that all the fish have died,
And the children all are gettin' sick from drinkin' water laced with cyanide,
And they've notified their lawyers, who have notified their lawyers
Who could not be reached for comment at their condos at Cape Snide;

Well, you can ride in the Devil's Chevy and he'll even let you drive,
You can floor it on his desert highway thinkin' that you finally have arrived;
But when you try to get to water, he will laugh behind your eyes,
One mile from the river, that's where beauty dies. (Repeat)

Snowboogie

Written By: Eve Rantzer

Follow my feet, dancing dream-like over the snow,
What are you, blind, Didn't your mama teach you,
People who waltz, fall in love — It isn't fire insurance but,
Dancing in moonlight gives it a shove,

Follow my wings, chasing snowbirds over the moon,
Sing as/when they sing — my darling, oh, I will come and teach you,
People who fly find their dreams — The view from land is deceiving and,
Your rainbow isn't as far as it seems.

Follow my hands tracing angels on your face,
Do as they do — paint some starlight in my eyes, 'cause,
People who paint kindle flames — The colors never stay the same,

Blue of river, fountain of pain
Silver forevers and gold for the sun, green for the road,
Except when it snows ...

Why don't you dance, what? You don't like dancing in thirty-below,
Well, I'll let it go this time, didn't your mama,
or some other woman teach you,

People who waltz fall in love,
People who fly find their dreams,
And if it should snow; If it should snow; If it should snow..... Well,
Na na na na na (repeat)
