Mature and eccelctic writing with a 4 octave voice. You never know what's going to happen next! Honourable Mention: 2007 Billboard Songwriting Contest.

Biography

Eve Williams is a singer and songwriter from County Down in Northern Ireland. She has been likened to contemporaries Joanne Hogg and Maire Brennan, but also has a soulful voice and a keen interest in jazz and blues.

Eve’s ‘ever graceful voice’ spans an impressive four octaves, and she is known for the maturity of her technically unusual songwriting. One reviewer commented that her tunes stay in the listener’s head for days (see www.fastfude.com).

In the past Eve has been a classical singer, a member of a folk band and a jazz singer. At present she is mostly influenced by blues and the native music of her Celtic homeland. Sales of her self-titled EP have been encouraging, and she frequently performs in Belfast and beyond. In both 2007 and 2008, she received an honourable mention in the Billboard International Songwriting Contest.

Proceeds from Eve's EP have been going to aid Jigsaw Northern Ireland, an organisation founded by Eve's father who died in November 2005. He himself had an acquired brain injury.

Lyrics

Life is for Living

Written By: Eve Williams

You sit and watch the hours slip away,
Another overstretched working day,
And you don’t really mean it when you say,
‘Life is for Living’.

And there’s more to life than this,

That old dream and that lost kiss,

All the things you thought you’d missed,
Life is for living.

And now, now is the time,
Open your mind to a new beginning.
Then start out from the dar
And let your world be new.

Forget what you regret,
Just learn to be a bit more forgiving,
When you stop and think it through,
Life is for living.

Go and feel the world beneai=th your feet,
You could even sing in the stree,
You never know whom you might meet,
Life if for living.

And in the here and now,
All those things you can't allow,
Will break through anyhow,
Life if for living.

Where Are You Now

Written By: Eve Williams

Verse 1

Today I found your picture
In a box covered in dust,
I hadn’t thought about you in a while,
And I smiled at my life without us.

I never thought you’d have left me,
Or I’d ever learn to move on,
But I hardly ever think of you now,
Life’s been fine ever since you’ve been gone.

Chorus

Where are you now ?
Since you left me standing there,
Where are you now ?
And why do I even care ?
When we said goodbye,
That’s how it was meant to be,
When you left, suddenly
I was free.

Verse 2

It’s funny how time can heal you,
From what seemed an incurable blow,
And though it seemed like the end of the world,
Now I’m glad that I let you go.

Please believe I have nothing against you,
And I wish you a life that’s blessed,
And if your path has diverged from mine,
Well, maybe that’s for the best.

Chorus

Another Lonely Airport

Written By: Eve Williams

Lonely Airport Lyrics

Verse 1
Only one more hour till I go,
I’d tell you why but I think you know.
Though it wasn’t part of the plan
Got my passport in my hand.
Heading through the barrier to security,
Once I reach the other side I should feel more free.

Chorus
Another lonely airport waiting,
No more time for contemplating,
Ticket’s booked and I am leaving.
No sense staying, no sense grieving.
Maybe one day I’ll be back here,
When I have the things I lack here.
Now my heaven and my hell are rolling round the carousel.

Verse 2
So goodbye to all your lies,
No more time for compromise.
And goodbye to this old town
And to all the friends I’ve found
Gazing at the runway, rising in the air,
Do you know I’m gone now and would you even care?
