Evil Eyes is a band in San Francisco – 1 part dark pop, 1 part shoegaze – originally conceived in Nashville when Greg Mabry and Joe Frabotta met senior year of college in a recording program. The duo soon realized they had a mutual love for Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, and the Pixies, and began writing songs the last few months of school, unfortunately right before Joe was slated to move to the (sometimes) sunny Bay Area.
They believed they were onto something good though, and couldn’t let their collaboration die out with distance. Over the next two years, with Greg in Nashville and Joe in SF, they wrote and recorded new material every time they visited each other, amassing a catalog of songs. It was obvious to the duo that they needed to be in the same place at the same time to take things to the next level. They decided San Francisco would be the perfect city to further cultivate their sound – full of art, yet ripe with opportunity to build something bigger. Thus, Greg moved to the Golden State in late 2011 and Evil Eyes was born.
