"79cortinaz and the Half-blood Prince"

"Tonight’s headliners, the brilliantly named “Evil Harrisons” were a new prospect for me, and I’m bloody glad I caught them. Upbeat, inventive, jazzy, and weighed down with hooks, they occupy the same sunshine-filled space as The Coral, with a decent dollop of Chillis style funk thrown in for good measure. Both the songs featured on their ep, “Oh Bonnie” and “You’re my ears and my big toes” were particular stand-outs, both with choruses most bands would happily sell, or heck, even murder their own granny for"

"Evil Harrisons"

"Every once in a while, if you're lucky, an original band will come along and absolutely floor you- a band whoose music makes challenging listening, a band who play their part in restoring your faith in the state of new music.
We in Dundalk are lucky enough to have exactly such a band on our doorstep- Evil Harrisons. Their sound is multi-textured, soaring and frequently moving. After relentless gigging and an impressive EP "Seafood and Crab" momentum soon gathered that Evil Harrisons are THE local band to go see if you want a feel good night of entertainment. Ronan Murphy's vocals are sheer perfection and unmistakably pure. Ronan's suave sophistication onstage marks him out as an alluring frontman. The band are remarkably tight and give an air of effortless professionalism
much more advanced than their years.
The arrangements on songs like 'Siren Sister' are densely complicated with soaring melodies punctuated by Barry Dwyers excellent guitar playing. Their lyrics are poetic (She's scaling Nietzsche to reach a higher lonliness) if not bewildering at times (ears and big toes anyone?) - these are not your average shouty shouty three chord choruses.
In 2005, the year we look to honest, big-hearted, literate, humorous and fiercly independant artsits, (Bloc Party, Bright Eyes,et all) for our inspiration then perhaps 2005 could be the year for Evil Harrisons......of course they'll need your help."

"SINGLES: EVIL HARRISONS -"

"Proof that Irish rock is in rude good health, Evil Harrisons boast slick metal riffs and vocals reminiscent of Josh Homme on this track, but who cares? That home-grown intrinsically Irish romantic title does all the donkey work. Of course it views for attention with the B-Side's "Quit raising my Cane!"."

Bio

In 2004, Evil Harrisons were born when Rónán Murphy (Vocals) was introduced to Nicolás Puayné (Bass) and Paul Carolan (Drums) by mutual friend and co-conspirator Barry Dwyer (Guitar). The inclusion of Murphy resulted in an instant spur of songwriting which resulted in the groups debut EP "X as in Fox". A small, limited release in late 2004 "X as in Fox" helped pave the way for their second 4 track EP "Seafood and Crab".

Recorded for €50 in two days and named after a sandwich paste they daren't try, "Seafood and Crab" was the groups first freely available EP. Available at gigs, the EP prooved to be a success with audiences and Evil Harrisons followed this up with the release of their debut single in 2005.

Featuring live favorites “You’re my ears and my big toes” and “Oh Bonnie” this single was released in late April ’06. Produced by Marc Carolan (Thrills/Muse/JJ72) the tracks showcased the group’s willingness to experiment with genres while remaining true to their individual style. An extensive tour of Ireland taking in 20 dates from Belfast to Cork between Mar-April in 2006 followed.
