Evil Olive

Evil Olive

BandRockFolk

Oddball rock for the masses- The music varies wildly from tune to tune. Lyrically, we tend to favor dark humor, and nothing is sacred.

Biography

Evil Olive is inherently neither Evil nor Olive. We started out in 2003 in North Alabama. We have recorded more than we have performed, as that is our first love.

Our songs tend to incorporate elements from Rock, Jazz, Country, and Folk. The lyrics can be dark sometimes, and just plain wrong (in a hopefully funny kind of way) other times. Among other subjects, we have touched on capital punishment, necrophilia, murder, suicide, nuclear apocalypse, stalkers, conspiracy theorists, a carney who blows himself up repeatedly, getting drunk, getting high, and running from a Mexican drug kingpin because he mistakenly thinks you got his daughter pregnant.

We call it oddball rock, and we hope folks like it.

Lyrics

My Own Stalker

Written By: Anthony Cook

She’s out there somewhere, waiting to find me
She knows how famous and wealthy I will be
She has a day job, hides her psychoses
She wants to be one of my loyal devotees

I’m a nobody living in nowhere
Nobody thinks that I will get anywhere
That’s okay by me, I know in my heart
Someday she’ll find me,
Someday, I’ll have my own stalker

He is so lonely, He needs a hero
Someone to penetrate his frail libido
I know he means well, I won’t be angry
I’ll understand when he feels he must hurt me

I’m a nobody living in nowhere
Nobody thinks that I will get anywhere
That’s okay by me, I know in my heart
Someday he’ll find me,
Someday, I’ll have my own stalker

I am so driven, I have no recourse
I have to sing you my eloquent discourse
You see my brilliance, you must admire me
I know in time you will grow to desire me

I’m a nobody living in nowhere
Nobody thinks that I will get anywhere
That’s okay by me, I know in my heart
Someday you’ll find me,
Someday, I’ll have my own stalker

By Way of Explanation

Written By: Anthony Cook

You’re walking on cloud nine,
You’re smiling like a champion
Your purpose is divine
Just need someone to camp on
I hate to bring you down
Destroy your delusion
Tell you ‘bout a girl
Clear up some confusion

She never said goodbye
Her words were never wasted
Her smile was like the sky
I knew I had to taste it
She brought me to my knees
She brought me out of hiding
She taught me how to please
A woman so inviting

You think, that you can hurt me
Well I call you an amateur
You think, that you can hurt me
Well I call you an amateur

I held her in my hands, she slipped right through my fingers
The pretty people always get the pretty people
She brought me to my knees, a woman so inviting

She never said goodbye
Her calm was calculated
Her exit was divine
My purpose devastated

I Explode Every Three Hours

Written By: Anthony Cook

I make my living on powder
Black as the night, black as ink
I explode every three hours
Next to the bumper car rink

The Ferris Wheel lights are entrancing
The Carousel music divine
The freaks in the freak tent are dancing,
But soon, it’s my turn to shine

They stop what they’re doing and gather around
The yellow tape marking my space
And I light the fuse and I wait for the sound and the
Thunder to take me to some other place

I once was a public accountant
Crunching the numbers all day
Drinking all night just to drive those
Numerical nightmares away

I once was a substitute teacher
The primary schools I did roam
But I never cared much for children
Damn kids never leave you alone

So I hit the road when I turned 29
To search out the place I belong
And seven years later I ended up here
A carnival sideshow (in) a carnival song

I make my living on powder
Blacker than ink, black as night
I explode every three hours
A terrible, beautiful sight.
