Evoéh

Evoh is a project that observes and reconciles two sources of Spanish music: Art Music and Popular Music.

In the year 2005 Evoh was born, as a duet of voice and guitar between Ariana Barrabs and Jess Olivares, as a result of our admiration for Spanish poetry and music. Since then we have been collecting popular Spanish Coplas and Jotas (typical Spanish folk songs). We have made the connection between the Sephardic tradition and its art. We have sorted out and reinterpreted pieces from Spanish Classicism. We have composed music so that verses by great poets could be brought to song. And above all, we have brought all this great work everywhere possible via our concerts (in the main theaters of Barcelona and traveling around Spain).

In February of 2012 we released the album Cadencias, a demonstration of our versatility and artistic direction up until that moment.

Nowadays, the Evoh musical group can be a duet or a sextet. Depending on the situation, we can add percussion or offer a purely instrumental concert.

In April 2014 the project as a sextet is consolidated on a tour of China.
