Bio

Conceived by Lear Mason in Ontario, Canada and originally intended to be a creative outlet, Evolution Of The Kill was born from the idea that music doesn't have to fall into a definitive category. Drawing from a variety of musical influences the band began as a way for Mason to evolve from writing a specific heavy style, to creating music that crossed boundaries.

The writing process developed into a recording project, and finally a band when Mason relocated to Phoenix, AZ in spring of 2008 with Erik Bishop on drums, Carrie Bird on keyboards and Mike Gahagan on bass. Evolution Of The Kill performed extensively in the Phoenix area playing everywhere from house shows to Horns & Halo's annual Zombie Ball.

In April 2010 their first full length, Ominous was released. Composed of heavy, down-tuned guitar work, intricate drumming and an aggressive yet melodic vocal style, the album has been described as, "…black, if all of the little rock and metal subdivisions are individual colors."

Immediately following the release of Ominous the band began writing for their second album. A line up change marked the return of Chris Martin who had been one of the recording engineers as well as the session bass player on Ominous. Staying true to the essence of it's origin the band shifted their sound, shedding much of their metal influence and drawing more upon electronic, indie and rock.

In February of 2011 Evolution of the Kill debuted the song Transmission, the first single off of their upcoming EP. The song, complete with it's hooky chorus, synth leads and driving rhythm indicates a less edgy and more openly introspective sound that is to come.
