Evripidis and his Tragedies

Evripidis and his Tragedies is Evripidis Sabatis project that draws musical inspiration from 60s orchestrated pop, cabaret music , odd singer-songwriters and indie mavericks and converts it into bizarre piano pop, equally sad and euphoric, romantic or cynical.

Evripidis and his Tragedies is mainly Evripidis Sabatis playing the piano and singing, usually backed up by a varying number of regular collaborators.
Originating from Athens, Evripidis Sabatis landed in Barcelona four years ago, but in no time he was
dazzling the local scene with his solo concerts. A prolific songwriter, his capacity to compose is nourished

Evripidis has a superlative imagination and wide-range of influences . Orchestrated 50s and 60s pop ( doo-wop, The Beach
Boys , Phil Spector and the pre-Beatles Girl Group sound), solo artists (Scott Walker, Nico, Kate Bush, Marc Almond, Nick Drake), indie pop
(Belle and Sebastian, Felt, The field Mice...). But it was his passion for vocals chorus in all
their forms (doo wop, church chorus and barroque music) that turned Evripidis music into a much more ambitious
