"Evro compared to Paramore"

Paramore’s grrrrrrl Hayley Williams never stops moving, only she gets to do it in front of crowds across the country. Local firecracker Janelle Korkus serves the same role for EVRO.

"Thursday Night Rock Show"

Evro
Meet Evro. Self-described as “in your face rock with an incredible female vocalist,” this suburban Philly band is Janelle Korkus on vocals, Matt Gordon on guitar, Pete Block on bass and Chris DeFusco on drums.

“We are in the process of recording and we are on a few college radio stations such as Arcadia, University of Delaware and Philadelphia Community College, as well as a number of internet radio stations,” the band, who has a bit of an Evanescence flavor, says.

“We haven’t won any awards but every singe time we walk off of stage someone who hasn’t seen us or heard of us before asks why we aren’t signed to a record contract yet. Our music speaks for itself.”

"K-K senior signs recording contract"

CONSHOHOCKEN - A new record label has recently signed a Kennedy-Kenrick Catholic High School senior for her diverse style, impressive vocal range and commanding presence.

Janelle Korkus, 18, of Worcester, will set the standard for vocal talent and music quality to come from the Conshohocken-based label.

Area music veterans Phil Nicolo, Skip Drinkwater and John T. Robertson Jr. recently established a new record label (S4 Records) and music production/publishing company (Studio 4 Recordings).
Studio 4's Nicolo and Drinkwater recently produced recording artist Brad's (Stone Gossard/Pearl Jam) new album and the Area One Tour, featuring Moby, Incubus, Outkast, Nelly Furtado, The Roots, Carl Cox and New Order with Billy Corgan, formerly of the Smashing Pumpkins.
As Studio 4's only artist to date, Janelle is hoping to become a pop success, with the help of Nicolo, Drinkwater and Robertson.
Nicolo and his brother Joe started a recording studio in Philadelphia in 1980 and have since individually and collectively assisted with recordings in nearly every genre of music production, including rock, R&B, hip-hop, mainstream and cutting edge.

Nicolo produced music for Billy Joel, the Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, the Fugees and worked with Lauryn Hill and Cypress Hill.

"6 ABC "Tuned In" Aired 8/2/09"

August 1, 2009 (WPVI) -- Our featured Tuned In band this week is EVRO. They are a local Alternative Rock band with a huge number of dedicated fans.

We caught up with them during a special taping session at Brittinghams in Lafayette Hill.
Here is their biography:

Evro has been described as, "In your face rock with an incredible female vocalist." (Play Philly Magazine)
Ryan Alan from Philly EDGE says, "Paramore's grrrrrrl Hayley Williams never stops moving, only she gets to do it in front of crowds across the country. Local firecracker Janelle Korkus serves the same role for EVRO."
Evro is an alternative rock band from the Philadelphia area that strives to have a strong and unique sound. The four member band creates catchy hooks and has amazing energy to captivate all types of audiences. Although a new and emerging band, Evro is diligently working in the Philly music scene.
It was almost an accident of fate for the members to have come together again. For DeFusco (drummer) Matt Gordon (guitarist) and Brian Vail (bassist), this was the third collective musical endeavor together. The band finally came together after years of working in various projects and when meeting Janelle Korkus (lead singer). Even though all the members have been part of various other musical projects with different outlooks, this was something that seemed right at the time for each member. "I would have never joined this project if it weren't for Janelle's incredible vocals and having good friends who equally write music..." DeFusco mentions. Evro's songs are all collectively created which helps promote diversity in their sound.
Evro is in the process of recording their first full album. "We're recording and mixing over 20 tracks and when we're done the album should have 11 or 12 released tracks." Matt Gordon
Currently, Evro has been featured on Radio Arcadia University, Montgomery County Community College's radio station, University of Delaware's, 91.3 in Newark, DE radio stations, etc. They have done multiple radio interviews, played an acoustic version of "Hold On", and recorded a live jam-out version of "Use Me Up" by Bill Withers for MCCC radio.
"Inside" was also played on 93.3 WMMR during the local shots for Jackson's Thursday Night Rock Show. In addition, "Inside" made the top 10 on (AFU Radio) Always Found Underground Internet Radio Station. The songs "Hold On", "Inside", and "The Ride" are in rotation on over dozens of internet radio stations and being played on air in the UK. The brand new community radio station in Ontario, WhiStle Radio 102.7FM (CIWS), is playing songs "Not Yet" and "Might Not Think So".
Recently, Evro just played "Not Yet" and "Just a Girl" on 104.5 Philadelphia Live at Five and 104.5 has the in studio performance on their website. In addition, Evro just did another radio interview with Ken Cowle from Soul Asylum Poetry & Double K Records.
Evro's unique and energizing sound can be attributed to the vast influences that each member brings to the band. Evro strives to mesh all types of musical ideas and present them with a unique and fervent energy. Continuing to promote their unique sound, Evro is currently trying to finish their first album in hopes to reach out to as many fans as possible. They are diligently working to overcome many musical challenges and strive to constantly achieve higher goals in the music industry.
