"Evry7th - One To Watch"

Evry7th defines themselves as a 'flamenco rock trio'. That is a great place to start, but doesn't even give you half an idea of how eclectic Evry7th really is. They say that every seventh wave is a big one, and that is where this musical group derives their name. Eren 'Turk' Bayazitoglu, is on guitar, trumpet and vocals along with Jeremy Walsh on bass and vocals and Craig Luscombe, on percussion, and vocals make up one of the newest bands to hit St. John's. Playing together since only November; they have already released their first CD, the self-titled 'Evryth'.

Their sound is unlike anything you have heard before, stemming from a mix of cultural backgrounds and musical tastes. 'Turk' comes to us from the Eastern Mediterranean, so you can expect to hear lots of Spanish influences, with Jeremy's love of Mozart to Metallica and Craig's punk influences through his many local bands. 'Combining tropical flamenco stylings', with heavy bass and rock beats, it is hard to imagine where they wouldn't fit into place. Citing Sting and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers amongst their inspirations, they make for a unique experience. They have Dean Stairs to thank for their crisp clean sounds on Evry7th's premier CD. Dean is a member of the Q&A dept for Waves Audio, as a beta tester, which received a Grammy win for technical sound in December 2010.

In a busy day and age, it is nice to turn on their CD and just relax, take a load off and thoroughly enjoy their rich tones. Pick up a book, go for a drive, or soak in the tub, you can chill with these songs and keep this CD on repeat. Evry7th is just getting started, and you will be seeing and hearing much more from them in the future. Head on down to on CBTG's at Holdsworth Court on March 25th at 10pm to check them out live, until then, join their group 'Evry7thmusic' on Facebook for a sample of their songs. - The Current Magazine by Suzan Boland

Bio

Evry7th is an acoustic rock three-piece featuring driving rhythms and flamenco flair unleashed by musical consorts Eren "Turk" Bayazitoglu, Jeremy Walsh, and Craig Luscombe. With a textured sound that belies a stripped down instrumentation, Evry7th produces passionate music with honest songwriting, rich vocal harmonies, intricate flamenco expletives courtesy of Eren’s guitar work and a pulsing rock rhythm section with Jeremy on bass and Craig on drums.

Evry7th has received 2 nominations from MusicNL "Rising Star of the Year" and "Jazz/Blues Artist of the Year"

On November 5, 2011, Evry7th is releasing their new album titled "Badabababada" as a follow up to the debut EP released a year ago in November 2010.

Evry7th got its humble beginnings in the fall of 2000 through fortunate coincidence when Eren and Jeremy were dorm mates in Paton College at Memorial University. Eren had come to North America from Turkey for his studies and made Newfoundland his new home. Today he is often mistaken as a born Newfoundlander by the natives.

Though total strangers at first, Eren and Jeremy quickly recognized their shared passion for music. With funky bass groves rumbling from Jeremy’s room and spicy flamenco rhythms drifting from Eren’s, the two were comparing notes before the leaves had started turning yellow around campus.

Through talent shows, open mic nights, and endless jam sessions, a friendship was forged around sharing and learning music, each pushing the other to expand their perspective and abilities.

Over the next few years, Eren and Jeremy brought their music to audiences around St. John’s through a number of collaborations both together and with other groups. Playing a weekly gig at The Breezeway, working the downtown scene with collaborator Terry MacDonald, traveling to the Stratford Music Festival with local trad outfit Rowdy Stout, and appearing alongside stars suck as Chris Kirby and Rex Goudie are just some of the opportunities they’ve enjoyed with music over the years.

Throughout this time Eren and Jeremy shared and developed each others’ songs. In 2005 the first original song to come from the collaboration, Out of the Blue, was recorded on Eren’s computer in a dorm room at Paton College. Sharing it around to dorm mates, it became a favorite at parties.

Around this time Eren and Jeremy went to a house party and met a fellow musician who shared their particular love of Dave Matthews Band. Craig Luscombe was a seasoned drummer who had spent years rocking the kit with Sundriver, releasing Rearrange in 2000. After jamming on cover tunes at parties with friends, the trio recorded some cover material together in the basement, eventually parting ways and keeping occasional contact.

In the Spring of 2010 Eren and Jeremy started to dust off some old recordings of their original material. By chance the band connected with Dean Stairs, owner of Little Known Artists Studios in Lewisporte. Sitting with the band to hear what had been put together, Dean recognized the potential in both the songs and the band and agreed to help polish the recordings and produce an EP of five of the songs. Working with Dean in Lewisporte to rerecord some material, the project was wrapped up over a few days, despite a trip to Turkey by Eren.

Reaching out to Craig to round out the lineup with a ferocious kit presence, Evry7th was born.

Having appeared at the ECMA's 2011 on two stages, Evry7th continues to explore, expand, and redefine flamenco rock.
