Bio
EXACTA - the DJ, the Producer, the Label-head.
THE DJ
Exacta is one of New York’s hottest rising talents, already making a name for himself as a heavy-hitter in the genre of House music. This rising star discovered his love for music as a young child listening to records in his basement in Queens. His participation as a drummer in his junior high school’s jazz band reinforced Exacta’s appreciation for rhythmic beats, further fueling his love for all genres of music and his desire to create his own one day. Eventually, Exacta traded his drumsticks for turntables, and evolved into a hip-hop DJ, gracing the decks for celebrities such as Mariah Carey, Heidi Klum, and P Diddy. After refining his turntable skills, Exacta’s musical style transitioned once again - this time from hip-hop to house. He quickly gained notoriety as he became one of the most upfront house DJs, known for his sexy, dirty, and underground house music. Exacta has played his trademarked style alongside the likes of Erick Morillo, Todd Terry, David Guetta, Mark Knight, Funkagenda, Pete Tong, Tiesto, Paul Oakenfold, and Armand Van Helden. Out of the New York dance scene that he calls home, Exacta has risen to worldwide prominence by spinning at some of the hottest clubs including Pacha NY (where he holds a residency), Cielo (NYC), Amnesia (Ibiza), Godskitchen (UK), Space (Miami), Prive (Hungary), Bon Bon (Shanghai), and Guvernment (Toronto, where he recently became a resident). In breathtaking and daring sets, Exacta showcases a sublime matrix of cutting edge house that ranges from deep to vocal to minimal to tech. His musical prowess is constantly pushing the envelope, making dance floors sweat from his epic interludes with color and shade. Exacta’s reputation for having his finger on the pulse of the dance music community preceded him and led to many opportunities beyond the confines of the DJ booth. House music fans worldwide can now tune in to Exacta's weekly feature on Soulgood called the 'New York Minute.'
THE PRODUCER
Exacta has effectively communicated a fluid cohesion between the roles of DJ and producer, including himself among the rare breed of artists with the ability to write not only their own music, but lyrics as well. A constant thirst for knowledge and love for the turntables helped materialize Exacta’s dream of making his own music. His production career was fortunate enough to begin by working with world-renowned producer DJ Premier at D&D Recording Studios. However, it was in learning the business of house music when working for Pete Tong's FFRR Records that Exacta really began to explode. Within weeks, Exacta was signed as an artist by Erick Morillo to one of the most renowned record labels on the house scene, Subliminal Records. His first three original productions, 'The Beat Inside You,' 'Flippin,' and 'Shake My Soul' became instant hits for the label and irresistible to anyone who loves to dance.
During the summer of 2006, Roger Sanchez broke Exacta's vocal remake of the classic 'Pride (A Deeper Love)' in his Essential Mix album. Consequently, an overnight club killer was born, and it became apparent that Exacta was officially a rising talent in the industry. This became clearer with the releases of 'Set Me Free' and 'You Keep Calling Me,' tracks that set dance floors on fire and topped music charts across the world. Radio 1's Trophy Twins quickly labeled Exacta "a producer to watch" on their show 'The Residency' - an opinion clearly magnanimous throughout the music industry with Exacta being sought out for his remix work by superstars such as Santana, Nelly Furtado, and Madonna.
His 2007 offerings - 'Stuck On Your Love' and‘Lost In Music’ - were both hailed as breakout tracks of the summer, receiving rave reviews and lending buzz to Exacta's guest mixes on Release Yourself, Justmusic.fm, Soulgood, and XM Radio. A passion for making music coupled with his evolving sound is sure to impact Exacta’s latest projects: a collaboration with Funkagenda, a high-profile remix of ‘Shogun’ for Toolroom Records, and three eclectic and original productions to be released in the summer- ‘Soul Survivor,’ ‘Turn Me On,’ and ‘Sweat.’ An ever-prolific producer, Exacta is reaching the masses with his quality dance floor anthems and consistently proving to withstand the test of time.
THE LABEL-HEAD
In 2006, maintaining his alliance with Subliminal, Exacta decided to launch his own imprint label called Compulsive Music. This label was to become home to his special brand of dark and dirty New York dance music. Compulsive Music's title reflected the compulsive lifestyle of NYC and its nightlife scene. However, within one short year, the label launched one international smash hit after another, drawing in an astounding array of international DJ talent. The term "Compulsive" no longer seemed to fit...
In August 2007, Exacta launched his new global brand and label - Double Frequency Records. Despite its tender age
