Exhausted Pipes hails from Berkeley, California and are proud Indie Rockers. Their first, completely self released album brings in influences from Franz Ferdinand and Kings of Leon. You can also hear their Bob Dylan influence through the folksy harmonica solos and acoustic guitar licks on pretty much every track. After one year of collecting equipment and teaching themselves how to professionally record and produce their album, the self titled Exhausted Pipes was released on December 2nd, 2011. Acoustic guitars are not very common on this blog, but it’s not impossible to find some here. Exhausted Pipes are an Alternative/Folk/Rock band from Stockton, California. In their biography they describe their music: ‘With a more-than-loud blues-based attack and a more modern folk-rock twist than your average garage band, Exhausted Pipes will get your typical smoky, drunken bar crowd dancing. Exhausted Pipes is a unique 3-piece rock band based out of Berkeley, CA. Singer/songwriter and guitarist Hunter Steers, drummer David Mayman and bassist Andy Landgraf produce a tight, original sound and a provide a great entertaining live performance.
Sound
Influenced by early 60s British beatgroups and electric folk artists (The Kinks, The Beatles, Bob Dylan), modern garage rock and post-punk revival groups (Franz Ferdinand, The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, The Killers, The White Stripes, The Raconteurs), and several 'indie rock 'bands (The Fratellis, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Vampire Weekend), you can be sure that you’ve never heard anything quite like them!
Exhausted Pipes focuses on an extremely high-quality level of sound in live and recorded performances as well as self-records, produces, and engineers all their material. Their eponymous debut album 'Exhausted Pipes' was released in Dec. 2011, and is 100% self-recorded and distributed by the members of the band.
Exhausted Pipes has developed a small, but strong recognition in the East Bay as well as by Hollywood residents, due to a strong response after appearing on a music segment from 'The Heidi and Frank Show' (95.5 KLOS) in late 2011.
