Bio

Things You Might Like To Know About Exile & Lokey-

They live in an old brewery.

They produce, record and mix everything in their own lab, Broken Toe Studios, which they built themselves.

Their first full-length album, Fool, will be released on CD and Double Vinyl by Mixt Ape Records this fall.

The first 12” features the single Sinking Ship and is backed with The Bridge and Signs and has been very well received at college radio.

Their debut EP, Lucid Traveler, was released by Mixt Ape in 2003.

Providence, Rhode Island is the town they call home.

They’ve shared stages with a lot of cool artists, including Boot Camp Click, Sage Francis, Aesop Rock, Mr. Lif, dead prez, Atmosphere, Black Sheep, Buck 65, Brother Ali, RJD2 and have performed at some great venues, including Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel, The Green Room, The Living Room, The Call, The Safari Lounge and The Bowery Poetry Club.

Artists you’re likely to find in rotation at their crib- De La Soul, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Wonder, Outkast, The Pharcyde, Radiohead, Bad Brains, Bob Marley, Operation Ivy, Aceyalone, Saul Williams and anyone else who’s fighting the good fight.

They’ve appeared live on a bunch of New England radio stations, including WBRU, WRIU, WBSR, WSMU, WBRS and WNHU.

Their earliest recordings were alongside fellow Birthwrite crew members Minister Ref and Shonin Flesh, including a Birthwrite mixtape and appearances on tapes from DJ Mekalek, DJ Next and DJ Unknown.

Ex & Lo met while attending the Rhode Island School of Design. In addition to doing music, they’re both pretty nice with a paintbrush.

Exile owns A LOT of vinyl. (We’re talking scary stacks here.)
