Exit 41 is a high energy Christian rock band that focuses on musical integrity as well as fundamental Christian morals. Exit 41 draws the audience in through up-tempo songs, an energetic frontman, and great chemistry among the band members. Exit 41 promises a show to be remembered.

Biography

Exit 41 got its start in the fall of 2005 when new youth and worship pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, Nathan Davis, went in search of musicians to play for Wednesday night youth group. What he got was Nick Box, drums, Cam Secrest, guitar, Emily Box on the piano, and a great group of teens who wanted to get up and sing. Nick introduced Nate to Josh McManaway, whom he attended school with, and Josh began to play bass for the group when he could. After many successful Wednesday nights, Nate, Nick, Cam, Josh, and Emily began practicing in Cam's basement, getting songs together...thus birthing what became Exit 41, which would move to do several shows during the summer of 2006. After a few readjustments and much prayer, the Exit 41 that you know today came about. Nick and Emily left the band to pursue other musical aspirations, and Rick joined as a temporary fill-in on the drums, with hopes to find a drummer so he could play guitar. That drummer came in the form of Jordan Morrison, whom Josh had met at Malone College. Exit 41 has made it a goal to bring others to Christ through their music, and rejoices when they see a new person join the family of God. It is their desire to serve God in all aspects, and make music that glorifies Him.

Nathan Davis grew up in the Toledo, Ohio area for most of his childhood. In high school he studied voice under Mr. Don White at the University of Toledo. Nathan is married to Jamie and they have 3 wonderful kids together - Alexandra, Abby and Benjamin. In the fall of 2005 Nathan moved to the Byesville area to begin his ministry as worship and youth pastor for Calvary Baptist Church. He and his family moved from the Cumberland, Maryland area where he was a youth minister and worship pastor. Nathan considers his influences musically to be artists such as Steven Curtis Chapman, Chris Tomlin, Charlie Hall and Matt Redman. He enjoys listening to Lou Graham sing, and wishes he had the pipes to sing that high. Nathan is also influenced by the preaching of James MacDonald, Tommy Nelson, and his Father. He considers the greatest piano player in the world to be his mother, who gave up a promising career to give life to her family. Lastly, Nathan is driven by the fundamental principal of Love, Seek and Know - Love, Seek and Know God, your family, and the place he has put you at present to minister.

Joshua McManaway grew up and currently lives in Cambridge, Ohio. He has been playing music since he was 10. He started out playing drums and he eventually started playing bass and then guitar. During high school he played in many ensembles such as, the Meadowbrook High School Competition Band, Jazz band, Pep Band and Lids. In 2001 he started playing in bands outside of school and joined the Brian Sweeney Project. The styles of music that he enjoys are Classic Rock and Christian Rock. His influences come from Aerosmith, Pink Floyd, John Mayer, and Relient K. He is currently attending Malone College and he is majoring in Commercial Music Technology. Josh spends most of his time managing Exit 41 and writing/arranging songs for Exit 41. He plans to go on tour and spread the word of God through his music, then eventually end up owning a studio and a venue.

Cameron Secrest, a native of Cambridge, Ohio, began his musical career as a drummer. He later picked up the guitar, and began playing at church with the praise and worship team, and with Josh, Emily, and Nick Box in a youth combo. Cam is a graduate of John Glenn High School and is currently attending Malone College as a Commercial Music Technology Major. In high school, Cam studied music theory with Mr. Paul Hudson, which led Cam to begin playing the piano. An original member of Exit 41, he holds his own as the rhythm guitarist. Cam also plays an important role in song writing, collaborating with Nate, and writing some of his own songs. His influences include Lynyrd Skynyrd, Queen, Switchfoot, The Beatles and Relient K. With his mother, Joyce, father, Mark, and sister, Markie, behind him 100%, Cam enjoys studying music at Malone and is excited to see what's in store for Exit 41.

Charles Richard Sills Jr., affectionately known as Rick, grew up in Byesville, Ohio. He began his music career as a drummer, playing in band at school, and playing in several bands with various people. Bands Rick has played with include Soundcraft and The Brian Sweeney Project. Rick began playing the guitar in High School, and quickly fell in love with it. He began studying at the Berklee College of Music in Boston during the fall of 2006. However, God led Rick back to Ohio, where he is currently a student at Malone College, studying Music Performance. Rick joined the ranks of Exit 41 in the early parts of 2007, first as drummer, then moving to lead guitarist/comedic relief, where he intends to hang out for a while. Rick finds that he is influenced by Jimi Hendrix, BB King, Eric Clapton, John Mayer and Jonny Lang.

Lyrics

We Just Wanna Dance

Written By: Exit 41

[Chorus]
We just wanna dance,
we just wanna sing
And lift our voice
to the king of kings

We praise your holy name,
with our hands held high we raise
And lift our voice
to the king of kings

All creation shows your glory
and your kingdom reflects your grace
And in our hearts we sense your presence
as we worship in this place

[Chorus]

As you work among your people
as your mercy fills our lives
May you love our heart of worship,
may it please you in the sky

[Chorus]

Lord use this generation
as we seek your heart in praise
May we be a willing offering
and a sacrifice of praise

[Chorus]

We just wanna dance
and sing, to you, our king
We just wanna dance
and sing, to you, our king

[Solo]

We just wanna dance
and sing, to you, our king
We just wanna dance
and sing, to you, our king

Lord, I Know That…

Written By: Exit 41

Lord I know that, that your love is,
is all I need
Lord I know that, that your grace it,
it covers over me
Lord I know that, that in you I,
I can be truly free
Why don’t I then, then just give you all,
give you all of me

[Pre-chorus]
See, I’m so struck with this little world,
and what she has
And I’m so stuck in my little life,
in the good and the bad oh,

[Chorus]
I need you, I need you,
I need you, to change me somehow
I need you, I need you,
I need you, to change me somehow
From the inside out

Lord you knew that, that without you I'd,
I’d stumble and fall
Lord you knew that, on my own I would,
I’d find nothing at all
Lord you knew that, that my life was,
was ready for your call
So you reached out, and you saved me when,
when I was up against the wall

[Pre-chorus]

[Chorus]

[Solo over Chorus]

[Chorus]

I Believe In You

Written By: Exit 41

Everybody out there needs something
to believe in
Everybody out there needs some
truth in their life
And I don’t know if I’ve ever seen something
so clearly before
When all this time you’ve been standing there
knocking at my door

No one can take you away from me
No one can say you’re make believe

[Chorus]
You’re more real than anyone else
You’re not a myth in a book on my shelf
When it came to question I already knew
No doubt about it, I believe in you

I have found my something true to believe in
I have found a light,
a way through which we all win
And all I know is life is better
now that I know you
And now I want to show the world
what I can do through you

I used to walk right with the crowd
Until my soul it screamed out loud

[Chorus]

[Chorus]

My Rock

Written By: Exit 41

I am, I am, I am broken
and useless, I am undone
You are, you are, you are
just what I needed,
when I am undone
You place me safe in your arms,
you place me where I’ll never run

[Chorus]
You are my rock, all that I need
When my world is crashing in on me
I need to fall safe in your arms
When my world is crashing in on me

My life, my life, my life has made
many wrong turns,
yet you’re always there
Seasons of pain have left me wanting,
yet you’re always there
You place me safe in your arms,
you place me where I’ll never run

[Chorus]

Oh Lord, look on me in my misery
Oh Lord, look on me in my misery
Oh Lord, look on me in my misery
Please remember

[Chorus]

[Chorus]

Runaway

Written By: Exit 41

Riding down this road,
running from the pain
Running from the girl I left,
the pain the stress
and the mess I’ve made
Riding down this road,
running from my fears
Running from the agony
of truth I know,
that I’m headed nowhere

Riding down this road,
running from myself
Running from the way I hurt
the things I love,
so repeatedly
Riding down this road,
and I’m running from the truth
Running from my thoughts of you,
the bitter truth,
you are all I need

[Chorus]
And in my darkest times
your freedom calls to me
No matter where I run,
your face is all I see

Riding down this road,
coming back to you
Coming back to all my doubts and fears,
giving them to you
Riding down this road,
no more agony inside
Knowing I can face the day with all its pain,
with you by my side

And in my darkest times
your freedom calls to me
No matter where I run,
your face is all I see
You set me free

[Solo over bridge then verse]

Light A Fire

Written By: Cam Secrest and Exit 41

Oh, Lord, here I stand at your feet again Oh, I’m so full of pain, Lord, full of sin Oh, I’m so sorry Lord, for I’ve wondered astray I need your guiding hand to lead me in your way, and I say…

Oh, I’m so broken Lord, I need some relief From the pressure of this world pushing down on me Oh, Lord, I need you now, I need your touch I need to feel you Lord, to feel your love, and I say…

[Chorus]
Light a fire in my soul, like an atom bomb explode Radiate your love all through my veins Fill my heart with your desire, Lord, please light my life on fire Renew my heart again

Why would you send your son Lord, to die for me A filthy sinner Lord, condemned unclean You saved me from my sin, Lord you made me new So the least I can do, is give my life to you

[Chorus]

At The End

Written By: Exit 41

[Chorus]
Oh… Oh… Oh… Oh…
Oh… Oh… Oh… Oh…

I’ve walked alone down this path
(walked alone down this path)
Oh too many times
(by myself, alone)
I’ve listened to their voices
(voices in my head won’t leave me alone)
And believed all their lies
(they tell me lies)

[Chorus]

Now I stand at the edge
(life is almost over, I’m so confused)
After following my dreams
(left it all, and this is what I have)
And still there is this longing
(why am I not satisfied)
That there is more inside me
(what is it that drives me)

[Chorus]

My thoughts are all confusing
(the pain, the pain it’s got to go away
My life has been unclear
(I can’t take it anymore)
Yet I can’t deny this feeling
(what do you want with me)
That you’re dragging me near
(I can’t take this, leave me alone)

[Chorus]

I’m at the end;
I need release from this pain
I’m running to you,
oh lord cover me with your grace…

[Solo]

[Chorus]

You now searched me and know me
(oh the freedom, the freedom)
You have cleansed my wickedness
(my sins are gone)
Now your hand will always lead me
(right by your side I’ll always be)
As you cover me with you holiness
(all your love, your grace, your mercy)

[Chorus]

I’m covered in your grace,
I’m blessed beyond disgrace
You’ve met me in this place
and I am covered in you grace

Desperate Need

Written By: Exit 41

She runs off the bus
and goes straight to her room
Falls into bed,
starts to cry and to fume,
as it all wells up within her

She hears her mom call a
nd she muffles her cry
She yells back
you wouldn’t understand why,
all the ridicule and pain

Her faith it seems so shaken,
and her fear is taking control
She is feeling oh, so broken,
she needs someone to make her whole,
she cries…

[Chorus]
Jesus, I know you are my everything,
Jesus, I know you are all that I need
You’re my life, my strength, my song
Oh Jesus, I need to be close to you now
and Jesus I need you to show me somehow
That this is for your good, be my everything

For five years he has preached
to the folks at his church
To the silent crowd, never moved by the word,
now he is no longer needed here
The message he brings no longer has an ear,
he has two weeks to pack and to get out of here
So he bows his head and begins to plea

And his faith, it seems so shaken,
and his fear is taking control
He is feeling oh, so broken,
he needs a voice that will make him whole,
he cries…

[Chorus]

Moments of pain, are moments we run
and finding our lives in the grip of the Son
He opens the door to all we need,
shows us who we were meant to be…

[Chorus]

Jesus, you are my everything
Jesus, you are all that I need
You’re my life, my strength, my song
And Jesus, I need to be close to you now
You are my hope, when all hope is gone
You’re my life, my strength, my song,
you’re my everything

Align To Me

Written By: Exit 41

Well I was drifting from you,
always angry and mad
My emotions were crazy,
from the good and the bad
So I picked up your book,
because I needed your truth
I needed the words,
that I cherished from youth

[Turn Around]
Oh you say Align to me

Then something inside,
began to break free
I began to see clearly,
what it is you were telling me
Now my heart burns, it burns within
As I here you say it,
again and again and again and again

Oh you say Align to me

[Solo]

Align to me, for I am true
See I’m transforming,
and I’m making you new
Align to me, for I am right
See I am guiding you,
in the darkest of darkest of nights

Oh you say Align to me

[Solo]

Now I read from your word,
and I drink it all in
Gone is the anger,
and the guilt that I feel from my sin
Now my heart burns, it burns within
As I here you say it,
again and again and again and again

Oh you say Align to me
(You’re making the wiser simple)
Oh you say Align to me
(You’re making hearts rejoice)
Oh you say Align to me
(You’ve enlightened my eyes)
Oh you say Align to me
(You’re making hearts rejoice)

Feed My Soul

Written By: Exit 41

It’s been a week
It’s been a hurried week
of confusion and of shame
And I have longed for you
I've longed for this
I've longed for all the truth
that comes with your grace
And how you make me new, and

[Chorus]
Feed my soul, Feed my soul
Let your word oh God,
come and feed my soul
Make my heart overflow
As I feast upon the living bread
That makes me whole
Feed my soul

So I approach,
And quietly and humbly,
I bow down
At your feet
I long to hear,
To hear the words
that will make my life complete
And give me peace, and

[Chorus]

Feed my soul, Feed my soul
Feed my soul, Feed my soul
Feed my soul, Feed my soul
Feed my soul, Feed my soul

[Chorus]
