Bio

EXIT 420
Our name is taken from the Takapuna motorway off ramp, it's the road to home.

Our musical influences are many and varied. Led Zeppelin, Lenny Kravitz, Ozzy, Metallica, Trivium, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Pantera and many more.

EXIT 420 competed in the 2011 Smokefree Rockquest and made it through to the North Shore Regional Finals with Elijah winning the Musicianship award. Since that time they have performed at various local events receiving positive and enthusiastic feedback from all audiences.

The Band:

India Yelich Oconnor is our vocalist. With a voice that belies her 13 years, she can belt out some powerful melodies. She has a keen interest in writing and has been known to pen a tune or two including the lyrics for "Fall to the Floor". With her quirky sense of style and humour, she keeps the other band members on their toes.

Sam Parkin is our guitarist. With a real passion for guitar playing, Sam has spent a lot of time honing his skills to attain his high standard of playing today. His busking skills are legendry and, during a school holiday he can be seen performing in Takapuna, raising funds for his next concert ticket.

Elijah Whyte is our drummer. Elijahs love affair with the drums began at the age of 8, and he has never looked back. His fervor for music has led him to create his own music and lyrics based on experiences in his own life or the lives of those close to him. He also plays guitar and bass and his iPod is a permanent fixture unless it has been confiscated by his teacher!

Zander Ling is our bassist. Musician, practical joker, thrill seeker, dare devil, Zander keeps the band laughing. If there is any mischief afoot Zander is behind it. He is talented in playing both guitar and bass and performing live is his thing. He has won the 'Most Compelling Performer' award on two separate occasions in the Battle of the bands competitions!
